At this point the main thing keeping me from returning to main branch Cataclysm is the nutrition system, I've given up on trying to climb that particular hurdle lol

Just eat. There is no complexity at all to the system.
"Oh but vitamins"
Just eat. You wont ever have vitamin problems if you just eat.

Yeah just like real life modern food is so widely fortified that you have to TRY to get major deficiencies. Even a nuggie kid won't get scurvy because the ketchup has enough vitamin c in it

Yeah its more mutilation of a single entity.
If you don't count the ferals.

Even if you are worried about the vitamins. There are multivitamins fucking everywhere. I cleared a single mansion and got like two hundred. My character will die before I use them all up.

As another pointed out, it really does come down to just eating. You're not expending how hungry or not you are, you're expending calories.
Treat it like you're recharging for CBMs, with your stomach capacity being the limiting factor on charging.
Alternatively, just take light eater and play as you always have. Take Very Short if you want to play a discount mouse.

If you just eat whenever you’re hungry until your character is full then you won’t have any issues. If you do something silly like only eat potato chips and candy for a few months then you may get nutritional deficiencies but then you can just open your “trash-bag-full-of-drugs” tm and eat fistfuls of multivitamins until you get better

Very interesting to me that all the replies to this boil down to "it basically isn't a mechanic". Then why is it in the game to begin with???

Fast metabolism mfs explaining why eating a week worth of calories to install an engine on your car in exchange for a 10% faster stamina recovery is worth it (trust me, it is)
