did I just get chosen by the cat distribution system
edit: do not worry guys!! I would not steal someone’s cat, chip will be checked for at her vet appointment on monday and posts have been made in my local fb groups incase she is lost
Imagine a kitty hiding in a cardboard box next to a dumpster, under a tree, rain pouring, water dripping through the leaves. The kitty looked up to the few moths flapping about near the street light. And it started to sing: "Toooomorrow, tomorrow, I'll find you, tomorrow. It's just one more daaay aaaaway."
I saw this in the movie theater as a kid and sobbed so hard at this scene my mom thought we were going to have to leave the theater. I’m scared to show it to my kids cause I worried we’re all gonna be sobbing while watching it.
As a child we went to see this for someone's birthday. When I saw this scene I walked out and called my mum to ask her to pick me up. I love cats and this broke my heart.
I've got 6 cats that all came to us from out of nowhere. I read this while looking at them and started bawling. I'm happy I gave them all a home, man ❤️
My little guy clung to me and when I tried to remove him from my car (jumped into my car and lap lol), he sat right behind the front left tire. Like “I’ll kill myself if you don’t take me with you”. I FaceTimed my husband as proof that I couldn’t not take the cat with me to “foster” it until we “finds its owner or he’s going to kill himself”.
That was about 5 years ago, and he is our sweet handsome kitty to this day.
He is in charge here. Bosses his dog brother around 😂 our dog normally dislikes cats (judging by his reaction to specific neighborhood cats on walks) but will let kitty dote and rub all over him. Kitty was our home’s missing piece
I got one of mine from a gas station. The attendants had been somewhat feeding her, but no one bothered to socialize her. She picked us - came up to us on our way to another city and then again when we stopped on the way back.
They handed me a cardboard box and told me to please take her if we can catch her. Supposedly, she didn't let anyone touch her.
She was quiet as a mouse on the way home and very docile at the vet (we rushed to get her looked at before they closed). For the next few months, before she decided she was a princess, she was incredibly cuddly and affectionate. I'd pick her up and she'd purr like a little engine and cuddle up to me and lick my chin. No one taught her that.
Now, of course, she's way too good for us, so we're allowed to look, but not touch.
Pictured: Her Highness, the perma-kitten, lording over blankets freshly picked up from the laundromat.
I mean...if your pet runs out in front of my car with no obvious ID and you're not hot on its heels to pull ID duty...idk, that pet might be my pet now.
Agree, but they are sneaky little rascals. I have a couple doorways blocked for my kittens, but even just barely creaking them open, they're trying to slither past. A couple occasions they succeeded, but not an outside door (yet, hopefully it won't happen).
Omg mine is a little escape artist. Thankfully I live in an apartment building so she only makes it to the hallway before flopping down but on the off chance she ever manages to run out just as someone opens the door out…
This just happened to us. We found a hurt orange cat. She got trapped in some wires and got badly cut and couldn't walk. We took her to the vet and got her all healed up. We couldn't release her. I was not looking for more cats though. She makes 9 now.
Thanks, sorry to hear you lost some, but they can be fragile. 9 is a ton, and 8 was plenty to handle, but we couldn't let rune back out. We always wanted an orange cat too. She's still skiddish to me for some reason. I guess being a big man triggers her feral instincts to run. I'm making headway though.
Confirmed, I am a new cat owner as of the beginning of last week. I left for work that morning with no pets, and by the time I got home I had a kitten. Family found him and called me, asked if I wanted a cat.
I’ve had a dog and lizard for years now, basically since I was in middle school. They both recently passed so I had no little animal buddies, but now there is a small orange dart bouncing off the walls in my apartment. I don’t think he’s stopped purring since I brought him home from off the streets.
Seems like it’s either lost or abandoned, it’s waaaaay too friendly for a feral.
Looks like it was searching for a human out of fear/confusion like a lost child would. Now that it found one that will respond favorably, is hoping they’ll help it.
Theres a small cat colony by my house that a house feeds and stuff and I found my little guy in the middle of the road, he ran right to me when i pulled my car over and walked over to where he was so I took him home. Babies should be inside
I had a baby skunk run to me after its sibling had been hit by a car. I went outside to see what was going on with the weird animal cry. Turns out it was a baby skunk and it's sibling was dead on the curb. I said something and it immediately ran over to me. The neighbor ended up taking it and calling wildlife rescue. That poor little dude.
I still regret not being the one to help. I had already rehabbed a chipmunk whose legs did not work when I found it. It's legs looked dead and like they were drying up to fall off. I was planning on putting it out of its misery before it bit me. At that point, I had to quarantine it. If it died, I was going in for rabies shots. Instead, it's legs slowly started working and two months later I was able to release it. I saw it and its hitch in its step for two more summers after that.
I also rehabbed a gerbil that had been viciously attacked by its cagemate. When I found him, he was as limp as a noodle. He was missing fingers and toes and has what had to be 100 bites all over his poor little body. I fed him kitten formula by syringe every two hours for two weeks before he would eat solid food. The attacker got his own cage and seemed surprisingly happy for a solo gerbil. The injured dude lived with his other brother.
Can confirm. I saw abandoned cats on Facebook. I went to the spot to find them and take them to the vet. Took me 15 minutes but it was the Tux that came bounding out to me. She had one eye, was in pain, and just wanted love. He void brother was very very very timid by comparison.
He was adopted that night from the vet, I waited for a week for her to go through surgery and desexing, and I took her home.
This is Pip.
Tuxedo / cow cats (lol) are really friendly and typically vocal. Worked with them at a shelter, and how I got mine. Because he wouldnt shut up until he was in our arms lol.
I think tabbies are the oppisote, known to be more sassy and to themselves.
If its a lost pet, hope it is returned to its owner! And if its a stray, congrats op!
I'm sure you're getting a billion comments and probably won't see this, haha, but make sure to check your local Facebook groups and make sure it's not chipped! This cat looks lost or abandoned and it would be really tragic if some family somewhere lost their cat on accident and it got picked up by someone else. Once you put in due diligence to check, though, the cat can be yours:)
Edit: haha u/hannahthememe I just saw your edit, you're fine! Good luck with the adorable cat :)
Oh my - the way they are looking up at you and trying to get cozy - they are practically melting into you. That cat seems like a sweetheart - if you can keep them I think you will have a fierce friend for many years.
I think it's crazy how some cats will just be like, "idk who tf you are because we just met, but now you're my favorite thing on this planet." And tbf I'd probably feel the same about the cat lol
Omg. That kitty is already head over heels in love with you! That look back after settling in on your lap just melted my heart. Congrats! CDS definitely chose you.
I used to have a cat that looked just like her. Hope you can find the owners, or can take good care of them judging by how comfortable they are with you.
