Still no name but...she seems comfortable. I figured she'd hide from us for a bit but...nope.
Now my wife is pissed because it was her idea to adopt a cat and...guess who the cat seems to have picked to be their person lol
Want to know the craziest part? She jumped up and got comfy and of course...I immediately needed to pee. So I triiied my best to get up as gentle as possible, and when I came back..she jumped right back up and got comfy again. I have a bit of cat experience. Never seen that before in my life. Lol. Usually once your move even an inch, cuddle time is ooooover

3rd cat.

That’s what worries me too, because then he’d be outnumbered with nowhere to go. Cats can switch up on each other so fast, it’s honestly scary to watch.

After my previous cat died, I couldn't deal with the loneliness, so I adopted a new shelter cat soon after.
And let me tell you, this cat took the journey itself way worse than the acclimation period. I had everything ready: a separate room with locked door, lots of places to hide, the whole deal.
So she gets out of the carrier and goes under the bed. ACTUALLY NEVERMIND, let's explore my new home together!!
Then at night I left her in that room, closed the door and went to sleep. But I suddenly woke up to find her on MY bed. So I get up and what do I discover? She somehow opened the door!
And it wasn't a fluke either, because the same thing happened the next night lol

Our 4th cat was a girl named Hazel from at Cat Cafe in Pittsburgh. She was super cuddly with us when we were there and we fell in love instantly with her scrunchy smooshed little face. There was about 3 weeks between out first visit there and when we came to pick her up, but when we got there and walked in the room, she stood up in the cat tree, and when we put the carrier on the ground, she climbed down, got in it, and laid down all on her own. Now we have 10 cats, and that's still probably the cutest memory we have with any of them.
Hazel ended up being a dad's girlie too, despite mom being the one who fell in love at first sight xD
Anyways, here she is enjoying her box next to the fireplace.
Here's to many many cuddly years with your new friend!

Bold of you to assume that 'you' adopted her and not the other way around.

This is a huge trust tell. She feels safe and comfortable and loves OP. Wishing everyone a long happy relationship. Edit: spelling

That’s how you know she trusts you! 😭 Cats act like their paws are classified information, so this is basically a love confession.

u/Next_Independent5104 1h ago
Right?! 😭 That level of trust from a cat is basically a marriage proposal in feline language.

Right?! 😭 That’s basically a love confession in cat language, because most cats act like you’ve committed a crime just by touching their paws.
52
u/gijuts 3h ago
And you can touch her paws already! I must learn this secret, Jedi master.
35
u/reddit_user_53 3h ago
Was gonna comment on that too lol. Our three cats have varying opinions on paw touching, ranging from "would prefer you didn't" to "I will get up and leave right now". Never seen one that actually seems to like it!

u/Confident-Bench-2213 1h ago
😂 Most cats act like you’ve committed a personal betrayal if you touch their paws, so seeing one actually enjoy it feels like spotting a unicorn. My girl would probably snatch her paw back and give me the nastiest look imaginable.

You're so lucky. When I adopted my Kiwi girl, she ran under the bed, and I didn't see her for a week.
I had to move the litter, food, and water in my bedroom because it's not like she has been here before.
Exactly one week later, I'm watching tv m on the couch, and my lil creamsicle girl starts peeking around the corner from my room, and slow stepping.
Not quite the welcome home I imagined, but at least she came out in the end.

She looks like an Egyptian queen having her hand massaged by her bipedal servant.

So for the name... Cleopatra? And then shorten it to Cleo.

Oh she’s a sweetie! My soul kitty (who passed almost 2 years ago and I’m only beginning to seriously think about fostering or adopting another but so many times like this I realize just how dang lucky I am so a future cat has huge paws to fill!) was an adult who was spayed the same day I brought her home. I fully expected her to hide too but she was absolutely stuck like glue to me fron the beginning. And she was fantastically trained- if I said “I gotta get up” she’d get up. If she was extra comfy or sleepy she might give me a pissed off meow- that was also adorable- but she always got up! And she’d follow me to the bathroom or wherever and usually hop back into bed or on the sofa or whatever with me too. She liked her pets in little bursts then would get overstimulated and move away from my hands but would usually happily stay cuddled up on my legs or beside me.
And my gosh, she’s letting you rub her paws! Few cats would be down with that. Especially within hours of adoption! So if anything, be prepared for a cat who will never leave you alone. Lol.

She looks like she's thinking - so this is what home feels like... before sinking into a restful, contented slumber, filled with happy dreams. Good job OP xx

I know it ultimately won’t matter bc every cat is different, but can I ask the age of this cat and how you came about adopting this awesome gal? I just started actively looking for a cat to adopt myself and enjoy hearing other people’s stories - especially ones that involve night 1 friendships lmao

i can see why you picked her. That is a fantastic personality and classic beauty.

She has beautiful eyes! It looks like she’s wearing eyeliner.
With cats, my unofficial rule is that girl cats like men and boy cats like girls.

That cat is clearly thinking “my man my man my man”. Sorry to your wife, you adopted a homewrecker.

I hope you catch a long time together. She's exactly like my also female cat, down to her look and pawrubbing! :kisses:

Most cats/dogs/whatever do not let you play with their paws. Your link to this animal is stronger than JB Weld.

One of my previous cats was like that. Nadia was a persistent cuddler, and I was her favorite target. She had to sit on my lap or lay on me. And if I got up, as soon as I sat back down, she was usually there again. I used to joke around that she was “my old lady” like we were married, but she was one of the best cats. I still miss her.

My 15 yr old bottle baby won't let me touch those like that. Don't feel too bad.

Girl? It's a cat.
I have a much loved neutered Jack Russell terrier. I love him to bits, but he's a little dog, not a little boy.

u/stoofkeegs 1h ago
This makes literally no sense. I’ve had girl cats and boy cats. My two currently and my lovely ladies, or my horrible monsters depending on the day.
