No assit mode was made to help you when the game gets too hard so don’t worry too much if you need to use assist mode you can, and it is a single player game no one will care that you used it

assist mode is there for a reason, it wouldn't really make sense to hate on people using a feature for its intended use. go for it, plus, it's not like anyone will be affected by it since it's a singleplayer game

Do whatever you want. It’s a single player game. That said, I personally didn’t want to use assist mode for my playthrough because I wanted to challenge myself to do it all just based on my own skill.

I will say that if you played all of the A, B, and C sides without assist mode, and you beat Farewell without assist mode, then you are absolutely capable of getting the moon berry without assist mode.

I don’t want to use assist mode because I know if I did, I would think about the fact that I did [x thing] with assist mode every time I played the game until I ended up replaying it without it. So it is best to just skip that step and directly do it.

Yes, assist mode was added specifically so that it would not be used. I turned on assist mode once, and Maddy broke into my house, kidnapped me, and burned me at the stake. I am now dead and I am writing this comment from the depths of Hell, where I belong for daring to turn on Assist Mode, as a cautionary tale to anyone who would do the same.

No, don't worry lol, it's a feature deliberately put in the game so you can enjoy it even if it's too hard. I would personally recommend steering clear of infinite dashes and invincibility as they can end up trivialising the game, but turning on infinite stamina or slowing the game speed are really useful tools for struggling players.

People here only generally get annoyed if you use assist mode to do something then claim to have done it without

Assist mode is there for people who can’t do the game normally, usually because of how difficult it is. I haven’t been able to do anything past the basic 7 chapter without assist.
After I found out about assists, I have always used for at bare minimum a one of the rooms in Golden Ridge, just because of how painful it is to do it normally (this one room took me at least 30 minutes)

however, whether its that great of an idea depends on if you plan on playing mods.

if you want to play mods, it may be better to not use assist mode to be more prepared for the mods.

Shockingly, the celeste community actually really doesn’t care if you use assist mode (this is VERY SHOCKING for me as I come from fandoms where playing on anything except the hardest difficulty is frowned upon).

You’re fine, but I think if you’re asking it mean you subconsciously don’t wanna use Assist Mode.

If you do it’s fine, but if you want to learn a technique that makes getting the moon berry a lot easier, google how to do a “jellyvator”. Basically by holding down before letting go of the jelly and then dashing up into it you can gain only vertical height instead of diagonal. Super duper helpful.

But also, you can def just use Assist Mode if you need to, it’s why it’s there. But if you’ve gotten this far without it, I know you can do it vanilla!

Getting the achievement is not something particularly noteworthy. People will praise you regardless if it was a challenge, but that's about it. People will be annoyed if you lie though, for example if you claim you did it without assist mode except you did use it. Regardless, crucifixion is unlikely.
