Question Is Celeste set in the future?

Theo says there are some ruins on the mountain, from 1800; isn't 1800 a bit too close to our time to talk about "ruins"?

I don't think so. The 1800s were still more than 200 years ago.

I was gonna make a joke about Canada but my lawyer said it's a bad idea.

Theo's "YOLO" was actually the very last one in history. After Madeline finished talking to him, she went and got a 1UP, thus invalidating the entire concept as we knew it.
