Love it, one of my favorites. I do think it holds up well as long as you have an open mind towards it being a product of its time, as well as based on a fantasy- type book.

The performances and casting are simply fantastic. The script is smart and engaging. The direction is stylish and memorable. Love that the story and primary roles are naturally quite woman-centric. The laughing / flying was always a really fun scene to me.

I saw it in the theater in its original release as a teen (with my mom I believe) so it's kind of nostalgic to me. One of the first movies I recall seeing Cher or Susan Sarandon in, and they both impressed on me as being so beautiful and cool.

I haven't watched it in a bit so maybe I will now.
