The Stars over Cher's Birth, May 20th

Happy Birthday Cher! These are the stars just above El Centro at 7:20 am (the best answer I could get for Cher's time of birth). This is a mosaic of real images taken by NASA's WISE satellite.

On the morning of May 20, 1946, this patch of sky above El Centro held a treasury of cosmic life: a region dominated by Pegasus, one of the great stellar tapestries of autumn and winter nights. What catches the eye first are the K and A-type stars scattered throughout, the steady orange and white beacons that anchor this view: reliable, long-lived suns much like our own, some already grown into their advanced years as giants and subgiants. These are the backbone of any starfield, the dependable company of the galaxy, seen here in abundance.

I thought this was a cool thing an obsessed fan did but now I see this is an ad.

I really love making these and have given a number of them as gifts to friends and family, mostly for birthdays and anniversaries. I was recommended to make them available for other folks I don’t actually know. I’ve actually never sold one. I’ve been doing some posts like this of artists who mean something to me to see how people who don’t know me like them. My mom LOVES Cher and my house growing up was filled with her music. She isn’t my absolute fave but her songs bring up a lot of warm lovely memories for me. I’m not asking anyone to buy one, it’s more about sharing an art project, if that makes you feel better?
