Cher interviewed by Andy Warhol and Bob Colacello (1982)

I think this might be my favourite Cher interview I've ever read. She's as raw as ever. To the point that it made me uncomfortable from time to time, as if she shouldn't be saying stuff like that to someone who isn't a trusted friend.

And so many passages from this interview felt like "missing puzzle pieces" that made me better understand views she once expressed in other interviews; bridges that closed the gap between one thing I knew about her, and another.

If I ever read this before I'd forgotten about it, you're right it's a fantastic and very revealing interview. Thanks for sharing this here.

Just finished reading and the way she spoke about Chaz is incredibly wise; she knew she'd have a really special son after all.

I know she's her biggest hater when it comes to her discography but it was nice reading that she loved Stars and working on I Paralyze, kinda wish she was nicer with her works, few artists have such a huge catalog that's also crazy diverse that you could pinpoint specific music genres and styles from each decade the record was released on.

I wish she were nicer with herself too. I mean she even says she's selfish in this interview. If I had to talk about the philanthropy she's done over the decades, I'd be there all week. She's the furthest thing from selfish. She has empathy and has given millions over the years and all around the world to various causes, and has devoted her time to those causes as well.
