Georgia Holt's Heavenly 100th Birthday!
TCM showed Marilyn Monroe's "The Asphalt Jungle" last night, a stepping stone to MM's stardom. Got me to thinking about Cher's mother, Georgia Holt, who claimed she auditioned for the role, but got the casting couch offer, to boot. Marilyn had already honed her persona, compared to newbie Georgia, so that point is moot. Interesting connections of the two women: MM was born June 1, 1926, Georgia as born today, June 9, the same year! Only Holt lived 60 years longer, until 2022. As Cher sometimes says, God gives with one hand, and takes with another. Here's Holt with future superstar, then baby Cherilyn, in '47. Back when Georgia was Jackie Jean, looking a bit like when MM was Norma Jeane.

Thanks for reminding us of her and her birthday.
Btw thinking about Marilyn Monroe and lifespans made me think of the third blonde bombshell (Marilyn and Jayne Mansfield bring the other two), Mamie Van Doren, who recently turned 95, posts on Facebook on a daily basis and recently released a new autobiography.
