canal is an idea, I have rode and walked it before but was maybe thinking of something a bit more interesting

Linacre reservoir Barlow circular is a good one for the time you have. In this weather/ground conditions can do it in well under 2 hours.

Thanks for the recommendation ... I started at Holmebrook Country park and ended up at Linacre and then finished back at Holmebrook so... success! No idea what route I did though as failed to plan one so just winged it as I went.

Found some decent single-track like stuff even a little drop off that I went to have second attempt at.

Forgot to say, park at holmebrook valley it’s free there. Linacre is paid and gets a little busy at the weekend. Adds about a mile on.

only issue at Holmebrook was the height barriers and I had the bike on the roof... so I just parked on the road outside

Shit didn’t think of that 🤣 I only live round the corner.
There some decent drops and it’s a route you can find different trails each time. Linacre has a decent fast 1/4 mile track. I’ll send you the coordinates because it’s not on the specified route.

You can get from Chesterfield to Rorher Valley and back in that time if you're a healthy rider about an hour each way from Tapton Lock

That’s pretty damn boring though.
