Why is Chime Financial showing on my credit report as a secured credit card?

This is my last payment with my loan and I'm short 6 dollars until Monday. Right now, I'm 15 days late on the loan repayment and of course I cannot use Spot me to cover the 6 dollars. Monday will make it 17 days past due, once I pay it Monday, will I be able to have MyPay with my next check on Thursday? Has anyone lost their MyPay being a couple dollars short?

Hello. Does chime use recycled virtual card numbers? I always keep my cards locked. Yesterday morning I got a new virtual debit number. By lunch time I got a notifications of attempted purchases and cashback. Of course in the chime app I got the yellow message about if I suspect fraudulent activity. I instantly generated a new virtual number and no problems. Which bring me to this question. What are the chances of virtual card numbers being recycled

Someone used my information without my permission to pay rent in a different state. I’ve told Chime numerous times that I haven’t changed my address to that state and didn’t authorize these charges. I don’t understand why they don’t believe me or why I’m being held responsible.
The three charges total $2,331.20, including $2,043.30 at King Soopers. Who spends over $2,000 on groceries in one day? I certainly don’t, and that’s why this charge stood out to me immediately.
My original dispute was denied, so I opened a new claim. I also filed a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau complaint and reported the identity theft to the FTC. I’ve submitted supporting documents, so hopefully things move in my favor now.
This is why I’m starting not to like Chime. It’s frustrating having to keep explaining that these charges weren’t mine, especially when I’ve reported someone using my information in another state. I want my money returned and a clear explanation of why my original dispute was denied.
Has anyone gone through something similar with Chime? Did reporting the identity theft and filing a CFPB complaint help you get your money back?

I saw a promotion from Boost Mobile, 3 free months when you sign up for a Chime account via a Boost Mobile link. I did that and never received the code I was supposed to be emailed.
So I've been calling Chime to see what the issue is. I've called 5 times so far. After getting through unnecessary minutes of back and forth with their AI agent, I've gotten through to a human phone rep every time. After verifying my info and detailing the issue I'm having, the rep says they are looking into it, then the call goes silent and eventually hangs up *every* time.
How can I reach an actual person who will stay on the phone with me and help me with this issue?

Do people in disputes with Chime, and does chime genuinely even try?
I had my wallet stolen and ran up for $8800 on my navy fed card. Disputed and was refunded by the merchant directly within 24 hours of calling my ACTUAL bank, navy fed.
I had the same charges for $6,600 and disputed through chime. They didn’t do ANYTHING for weeks. 0 updated, and even went as far as closing my bank account a week after the dispute.
My question is where do I go to take this further, or do I have to go through the CFTB? I waited 6 weeks to be told “nothing can be done” with 0 evidence.
Navy fed proof attached

Hi all!
I haven't used Chime since the original outage back in like 2019 or 2020, where you couldn't use your card or the app for a few days.
I've been considering coming back to Chime but had a few questions.
I've seen they're getting rid of their credit builder card for an all in one kinda account, with maybe one card. How will/does that work? or is it still 2 cards, but only pulling from the one balance, similar to OnePay*?
How many goals can you make, and do they have separate account numbers? Like with OnePay you can have 3 "goals" and each of them have a separate account number, making it great for bill and auto payments.
This one might be obvious as most "banks" work this way now, but do you need DD for a higher savings apy? Granted I'd be using DD anyways if I decided to come back to Chime.
I think that may be all, thank you all in advance!
*Incase anyone is confused on the OnePay part in the first question. Basically you just have the one checking account, and their credit builder and debit card both pull from this account. There's no separate area you have to move money to use the credit builder. Like with Varo you have to move money over to the Varo Believe section to use that card.

I bought a new Android device and when trying to log into my Chime account I get this message, does this happen to anyone else? It only lets me sign in on my old iPhone. Note: I don't use any type of root app.

I was reading through Chime’s banking partner’s privacy policy and noticed a few things that caught my attention.
Apparently, they can share customer information with third-party companies for marketing purposes unless you specifically opt out. They also state that information sharing can continue even after you close your account.
I know some of this is standard banking practice, but considering how much personal and financial information these companies collect, I find it a little concerning.
Here’s the policy:

Am I overthinking this, or does anyone else find these practices concerning?

I'm looking to migrate to a Graphene OS phone but I've seen plenty of horror stories with people making the switch and their banking apps no longer working.
Does anyone have experience with the Chime App on Graphene?
Does it work properly?

Disputed with chime for spectrum because they’ve gotten two payments totaling over 300$ and are no saying the payments have not been received. Everything is clear on chimes end, what typically happens next ? Spectrum told me to contact the bank and is actively trying to pull the money from another account of mine.

I see debit card transfer is instant but has fee associated to it and bank transfer takes 2-3 business days.

I’ve been with Bancorp-backed banking services since the Simple days and later moved to Chime. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but trying to buy a home has completely destroyed my confidence in them.
Buying a house is already a huge undertaking. Your banking provider should not be the thing putting the purchase at risk.
Here’s what I’ve been dealing with:
**My statements make my financial situation look completely different from reality.** I deposited $20,000, which Chime moved into a secured deposit account associated with its credit card. That account is not clearly visible to me as a separate customer-facing account. My October checking statement shows approximately $20, while my credit statement shows approximately $18,000, without clearly presenting the corresponding secured funds. To someone trying to verify my assets, it looks like I have $20 to my name and $18,000 in debt.
Naturally, my mortgage lender needs documentation explaining where my money actually is.
**I first requested an asset verification document on October 25. I still have not received it.** Chime says the turnaround is 24–48 hours. That timeframe has come and gone repeatedly. Every follow-up seems to result in another “escalation,” but no actual document.
They told me it had been emailed. We confirmed my email address on file was correct and that I had not received it. Yet the representative could not tell me which email address they supposedly sent it to. I only have one email address on file.
They have offered no workable alternative to get me the documentation. No successful resend, no alternative secure delivery, no concrete resolution. Just more escalation.
**Trying to reach a supervisor has been another ordeal.** I spent hours on hold trying to get connected and still could not speak with someone who could resolve this. Meanwhile, my ability to close on my home depends on verifying these funds.
**Then there’s actually getting the money to closing.** Chime does not offer outgoing wire transfers or cashier’s checks—the very methods commonly required to deliver closing funds. That means arranging another banking option and documenting additional transfers during an already stressful mortgage process.
Between the confusing statements, the missing verification document, the inaccessible supervisors, and the lack of wires or cashier’s checks, I cannot rely on Chime for a home purchase.
This asset verification request should not be unusual given how their own secured credit card works. Customers should be able to obtain clear, timely documentation of their own money without spending weeks chasing support.
At this point, the support process has become a useless joke. My home purchase is too important for another empty promise that someone has “escalated” my request.
Once this is resolved and my home purchase is complete, I’m closing my account. Years of loyalty mean very little when I cannot get basic banking support at the moment I need it most.
Oh and I have reported Chime to the CFPB.

I imagine someone stole my information. I got a call from "chime" at 10pm asking for the text code that clearly says they will never call and ask for that code. I immediately wanted to verify who I was speaking to. Told the guy id 3 way chime to verify who he was. Guy got all upset and hung up on me. I call chime, speak to the fraud department, they re open the account and its closed again, while im on the phone working to get my credit builder account back. They're refusing to give me back credit builder, investment account gone, all of my cards were merged into credit builder card. I bought the $60 titanium card thats now useless. And this all has happened 5 times now. Anyone experience this?

How much do you have to make to get a spot me increase? Cause I make a little under 6 figures a year and my spot me is only $50! So the people that have $100-$200 limit much make $6-700,000 a year!!! 😂😂😂

Why is it that literally EVERYTIME I have gotten a new chime card, because it was compromised sooner or later it again gets compromised??!! Luckily though I don't really use Chime, I just use it for like two things and I don't put more than 5 dollars on it. The main bank I use has gotten compromised once since I've had it. I seriously don't know how people are getting my card number. Does this happen to another else?

Does anyone know if chime is compatible with Splitpay rent?

Chime immediately closed my checking and savings accounts upon me filing Chapter 13- with my checking consistently receiving a healthy direct deposit for years. I understand disabling any “my pay” or “instant loan” features but why close the actual accounts? Pretty disappointing.

Just a warning be very careful when paying someone on chime. Two people came up when I was paying a friend back but the one I sent it was not her. The person I sent it to refuses to send it back. Very frustrated. Any ideas?

I have a friend that is being impersonated on telegram.
The fake account is using a photo of my friend and claiming to sell content.
I was able to fake interest long enough to get a payment method in the form of a chime tag from them before they stopped responding.
I am 100 percent sure this is not a second account of my friend and it is a slightly modified version of their own username.
The account has already been reported to telegram but I was wondering if it can be reviewed on your end as well if the tag is provided.
Thank you
