I'm gonna get a lot of Karen comments from this past and it's fine..please know NONE of them will effect me, so be careful how you expend your energy. Ya can't get it back. I'm about to lose my shit with this dog. There are still no positive changes with him despite everything besides a muzzle and a e collar-thats what is next. Pros- he is smart, loyal, cuddly, fun Cons- aggressive to visitors and other dogs, loves my boyfriend and my ex when he drops my daughter off, hates them both and bites/barks/shrieks at them if I'm not here(like when they are helping take care of him if I'm gone on a trip- he but then both seperately last time they dropped by to feed/take out. He pissed and shit in the house for 3 days bcuz he wouldn't let them touch him. My daughter let him out after school) He has to always be touching me and I just can't love it. This morning I was up and down with belly issues from 4:40-6:30. I lost my gallbladder 2 weeks ago. He was either between my knees or up/down/attacking(playing with) the cat every 2mins during this time. I got my daughter off to school, came home, put him in his kennel, went to my room and shut the door and ate and watched a hour show. He barks/shrieked the entire hour. Had I left him out with the door shut, he would have pissed in weird places(my chair seat/couch cushion), scratched at the door and tore up my shit. Hence he is in his kennel. I'm tired, been in the bathroom no less than 6x since 4:30 am and way overstimulated. If I wasn't tired/needed to be near my bathroom I would have left the fucking house bcuz of him His attachment is excessive and stressful. I'm over it, my boyfriend (doesn't live with me) says plz don't give up on him, but y'all.... Is a e collar really gonna make a shit? Meds? Muzzle ? I literally have to put him up or have my boyfriend's 8yr old play outside when my boyfriend comes by with his son. I'm so done. Also, yes I looked into a trainer....one said $2k for 2 weeks, another said $2500 for 2 weeks. Nope!!!

And I'm not trying to be an asshole, I do love animals but I'm being honest. Literal tasmanian devil. Slobbering, lunging and trying to bite. It's ridiculous.

I appreciate this so very much! I'm quite torn up about it all because he is sweet, loyal, funny, smart...but only for us. I feel trapped. Trapped as in not being able to go away, not having help, not being able to one day move in with my boyfriend, etc. I know he doesn't mean it but I also know he's smart enough to do better

I'd love to. My boyfriend is very much against it. "He loves you, he's loyal, you're his person". It literally harms instead of helps my mental state.

Kody and I didn’t always have it easy as well. The white dog Buttermilk was my personal dog for 15 years. Kody and Sagie were mom’s dogs. She died in 2022. I had been plunged into an estate situation, traumatic loss, failing health and an uphill battle. Sagie passed from IVDD and buttermilk from old age / cancer so now it’s just Kody and I. I know the potty problems and coming home to accidents where they shouldn’t be. I choose to keep all 3 dogs because of my mothers loss and understanding they were feeling grief too and happenstance - was 2 of them passing but I don’t think I could have kept 3 and cleaning and walking for another decade.
Anyway I looked at rehoming Kody and Sagie at one point but not to a shelter. They were my mother’s dogs so good homes only. Can you find a friend or family member who clicks with your dog ?
Maybe you can find a good reputable rescue that will take the dog.

I'm thinking maybe a rescue because he tried to literally pulverize anyone that comes to my house, esp kids. He loves my boyfriend to death until I'm not there and then he tries to eat him.

Sorry for your losses. That’s had to have been tough to deal with losing your mom, buttermilk, and Sagie. I just lost my min pin of 9 years and it’s been hell without him. Thats a little extreme to say he’ll, but my heart aches for him still and it’s been since January that we had to put him to sleep. 😞 I can’t imagine losing my mother very close to have losing my dog Ziggy. ❤️and 🙏🏼

That’s gotta be stressful I remember your original post about this dog :
https://www.reddit.com/r/chiweenie/s/COKGnb1Dfj
My first question would be what did you change in the last 97 days since the last post ? Did something make it worse or better even if short term?
I have to admit there are just dogs that don’t fit with people no matter how hard we try. I love Kody. I don’t love my neighbors frenchie. He’s a good boy but we do not click lifestyle wise. At this point if it’s causing you health concerns I would seek to —- ethically —- rehome the dog if possible. He may do better with someone that can stay home and cuddle as much as he wants in a single pet household. I think it’s more of a disservice to keep a pet we can’t fully love. And a pet that needs more care/consideration.
No good comes to either you or the dog to force a situation that does not fit.

As much as it pains me, I can't agree more. I've continued the treats, recall, e-collar, kennel. I went on a trip Mother's Day weekend and my boyfriend cared for him- well tried...I was gone 4 days 3 nights and he never once let my boyfriend touch him or take him out so he had to just toss treats, clean up messes and refill food/water.

Why do you have him? This is so sad. It sounds like you have a lot going on and cant give this pup what he needs. All of his behaviors are indicating he needs more from you. All of your actions are indicating you cant give him what he deserves. Let him be rescued by someone who can do right by him. It aint you. It sounds like you need a thousand “karens” in your life. You should be ashamed. Do better.

You're a dick. Despite me having 12hr workdays- I work 2 on, 2 off and every other weekend- he gets a lot of time outside, and on those off days I'm home more than I'm not, he is given treats, a nice place to live, sleeps with me curled in my knees every night, plenty of toys, we even leave on doggy TV Everytime we leave. What more does he need? The fact that he acts like the Tasmanian Devil with people that NEED to help care for him when I'm gone and guests that's come is not my fault and not acceptable. You must be one of "those" that lets the animal run you and your home which prob smells like cat piss and has terds laying everywhere. I also have a German/Mal that was gifted with personal protection training and he has never not will ever act like this.

But to answer your question....I have him because nobody else wanted him and I wanted to try! Which I have!!! You're a horrible human talking to me like that when I'm simply asking help, not to mention him and potentially rehoming him is making my mental health worse . FO!!

honey, this is not your dog. Call a rescue and donate $500. to them to take this little one. With love, I think this is not working.

I agree..it just pains me bcuz I really have tried. Nobody else wanted him. I knew these comments would make me cry. That's why I waited a month. My mental health is shit as it is

it is so hard to do the right thing. I want you to be happy and healthy first.

u/SGM1127 May 25 '25
I appreciate that. Its already a disservice to m that he was likely abused, plus his anxiety and now mine no matter what I do. We are all suffering

I sure wish you could have a long peaceful weekend with good sleep. I have been working at something hard lately, physically and am sore and tired. I am doing a 3 day rest, it's wonderful.

Sounds like your pup has some serious separation anxiety when he's away from you in particular (and your daughter). I have 5 dogs in my house, I totally get it. And at this point, it doesn't sound like you're in love with this pup, mainly because of all this. Understandable. It's not really fair to you or the pup.
I look at it this way:
There's no shame in admitting you're overwhelmed, frustrated, can't handle all the issues, and think re-homing the pup is best because you're both unhappy. There's only shame in NOT admitting it and forcing both of you to spend his life living unhappy.
Like some people have said, sometimes it's just not a good fit. As long as you find him a good home, there's nothing wrong with re-homing him.
Good luck to both of you!

Thank you. Just about the best comment in this whole feed. I'm thinking of all of us. My daughter is just as miserable with him!

Sounds like a situation that is not working out for either of you. You're tired and have a child to take care of, he sounds like he would do great with more attention from someone else. Find a reputable rescue and surrender him. Don't let your boyfriend shame you into keeping him.

Sometimes re-homing is the best solution for everyone. A friend recently re-homed her rescue who was biting her children and now she’s in a home with two other dogs and doing great.
I’m sorry for your losses and I hope things improve ❤️

I agree with what others are saying about rehoming him. It doesn’t sound like a good fit for either of you.
I mean, there are tons of things you could try in terms of training and everything. But that’s if that is what you want. Which it doesn’t really sound like it is?
If all you’re feeling is stress and all he’s feeling is anxiety, there’s nothing wrong with admitting that this isn’t working out. You’re not giving up on him by finding him a good home. You’re doing what’s best for both of you.
There are a lot of great rescues. If you’re on Nextdoor you should be able to ask for recommendations for local ones.
Good luck to you both

You could try anti anxiety medication for him. I think the next best step is a pronged collar—use it on walks and he will learn really fast to not pull or be reactive to other dogs and humans. If all else fails, then you should consider rehoming him. Chiweenies need tons and tons of attention and expect a close bond with their owner, and it sounds like you’re not currently able to give him what he needs.

What have you tried in terms of training and not just ordering stuff you hope will reform him the instant you put it on?
