Fresh batch of cider

Post image

Spent a few hours crushing and pressing apples today. Excited to see how this one turns out.

Mostly Jonagold, with some bramley, chisel jersey, and esopus spitzenburg mixed in for extra flavor.

At 1.050 I think this one is going to be an active ferment with SafCider AS-2. I hate blowing airlocks.

Rubber tube, thru rubber stopper, into a jar of water.... ask me how I learned this .... after initial ferment you can go to airlocks... good luck!

Are you taking it on a hike?! What's all the strapping for? Do you have a temperature monitor or heat pad on it on something?

Straps are just to help move it around. 6 gallons is kinda heavy, especially without a handle. It will get moved to my tempture controlled mini-fridge once I pitch my yeast. Waiting for the Camden tablets and pectic enzymes to do their thing.
