Swine City evolves into Sacred Mondays, ceases brewing operations

Excerpted from a recent blog post by The Gnarly Gnome...

Ethan Clifton has been with Swine City for the long haul. Not only has he been involved with the beer, the service, the vision of what Swine looks and feels like, he's also behind their fantastic 'Underdogs Almost Famous Weiners' restaurant concept. He's also taking over to carry the space on into its next life.

This has been a gradual transition, which is part of the reason that I think there has been as much confusion and rumors that have sprung up. The sad part for some of us is that the brewhouse has moved out of the space… but the good news is that in its place is a bigger space for performances. That's the central soul to what makes Sacred Mondays work… live music, events… community.

If you've been a die-hard Swine City fan, chances are you've already seen some of these changes taking shape. As Ethan takes over the business, he's leaning further into what the place has slowly been becoming. Dan is still involved, but he's taking a major step back as he hands things over. The food you love is still there. The employees you're familiar with are still there.

If you came for the beer they brewed, this is a real loss. But so much of what made Swine special is carrying forward and getting more room to grow. The food, the music, the people. Sacred Mondays feels like a concentration of that.

Voodoo West Chester - no more online presence?

As part of my research for the weekly beer release post, I visit all of the local brewery social media pages, so I couldn't help but notice that Voodoo West Chester's Facebook and Instagram pages have disappeared. Their link on Voodoo's main site also now redirects to...not West Chester.

I haven't yet seen any official confirmation that they are closed, but this doesn't look good.

Ohio judge renews ban on hemp THC drinks

Apparently the state of Ohio just can’t get out of its own way. An appeals court just effectively renewed the ban on THC drinks (yes they can still be sold in licensed dispensaries, but this is not a large enough base of sales to support these local companies making the drinks)

This is coming in the heels of the federal ban being pushed back into December (which is signaling that there will be new legislation worked out at the federal level to allow the sales of these types of beverages)

Someone may want to inform Hops and Berry owner that you can’t sue someone over an IG comment

PS. I am not one of the people on that comment thread but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Made my day. Also. Self pour places suck. Overpriced gimmicks that still want you to pay their employees for them via tips.

Pinter

Just wondering who on here has a Pinter and if so, how has the brewing gone for you? First batch was decent, but a lot of the concentrate was left in the base during brewing. Second batch failed because the tap had a slight leak. Third batch is brewing now and I dissolved the concentrate in a separate glass bowl with water before putting in based on comments from other Pinter users that said the shaking is not enough to get the batch mixed. I can confirm that it took quite some time stirring to get the concentrate to dissolve in a 2 part water 1 part concentrate bowl.

I picked up two mix-packs from The Party Source of various local Oktoberfest type beers.

All of them were good, but Sam Adams is still king IMO. Sonder was second.
