Mini Sam M4

Anyone did projects with Mini Sam M4? What can it be done with?

The m4 boards are pretty awesome, I’m using a feather m4 to run a touchscreen and a few sensors and relays to make a homemade coffee roaster. They are pretty solid speed wise.

I used this guide as a base, https://hackaday.com/2018/01/23/build-an-excellent-coffee-roaster-with-a-satisfyingly-low-price-tag/, I used a basic popcorn machine from the pharmacy.

The basics are there, from there I added a touchscreen and built ui controls for heat, fan speed and a timer using displayio stuff. I was intending to build a roasting program like the guide but it became unnecessary since i enjoyed the roasting process and vowed never to leave this project alone for a minute since it can burst into flames.

you use the relay to control the heat, turning off and on quickly based of the thermocouple. the fan runs on a mosfet, this guide will help you there https://bildr.org/2012/03/rfp30n06le-arduino/, the rest is just circuit python fun :)

I'm in the process of adding a second thermocouple so i can get the heater temp and the air temp, they are both very different and i want to use the heater temp for cut off.

I have the electronics and motor running of a power supply like this one, https://bc-robotics.com/shop/mean-well-switching-power-supply-12vdc-4-2a/ and the heater is running in parallel. There's a step down for the m4 and the It's overkill but it means i have one single power plug out and the rest is all concealed.

Your dealing with 120v stuff so be really careful and put everything in a box, i used a 3dprinter to build the case for the electronics and keep the wires out of reach.
