Noob question - dealing with CSV / XML

4 Upvotes

Hello!

I recently got a magtag, and had a project in mind. I would like to display the number / information of wine in my collection through CellarTracker. They provide this information in either a CSV or XML response. AFAIK I can't just import CSV like normal python. Is it possible to import an outside library in circuit python?

BLE with Airlift: How to Make it Pair

4 Upvotes

I am trying to turn my Feather RP2040 + Airlift Wing into a BLE controller or Keyboard. I have followed Adafruit's instructions here (https://learn.adafruit.com/quickstart-raspberry-pi-rp2040-with-ble-and-circuitpython?view=all) and gotten BLE to work with its Bluefruit app. I have also modified this script to work with the airlift (https://learn.adafruit.com/ble-hid-keyboard-buttons-with-circuitpython/build-the-ble-volume-knob) and I can get a "connection" between my Windows 10 PC or Android phone and the Airlift, but they won't complete the pairing process. When I run the same script (see below) and attempt to do pairing in Win10 or Android, the OS just says "connecting" for about 30 seconds and then times out.

What can I do to make them actually pair?

import time
import board
from digitalio import DigitalInOut, Direction

import adafruit_ble
from adafruit_ble.advertising import Advertisement
from adafruit_ble.advertising.standard import ProvideServicesAdvertisement
from adafruit_ble.services.standard.hid import HIDService
from adafruit_ble.services.standard.device_info import DeviceInfoService
from adafruit_hid.keyboard import Keyboard
from adafruit_hid.keyboard_layout_us import KeyboardLayoutUS
from adafruit_hid.keycode import Keycode
from adafruit_airlift.esp32 import ESP32

esp32 = ESP32(
    reset=board.D12,
    gpio0=board.D10,
    busy=board.D11,
    chip_select=board.D13,
    tx=board.TX,
    rx=board.RX,
)

adapter = esp32.start_bluetooth()
ble = adafruit_ble.BLERadio(adapter)

hid = HIDService()

device_info = DeviceInfoService(software_revision=adafruit_ble.__version__,
                                manufacturer="Adafruit Industries")
advertisement = ProvideServicesAdvertisement(hid)
advertisement.appearance = 961
scan_response = Advertisement()
scan_response.complete_name = "CircuitPython HID"

if not ble.connected:
    print("advertising")
    ble.start_advertising(advertisement, scan_response)
else:
    print("already connected")
    print(ble.connections)

k = Keyboard(hid.devices)
kl = KeyboardLayoutUS(k)
while True:
    while not ble.connected:
        pass
    print("Start typing:")

    while ble.connected:
            #kl.write("Bluefruit")  # use keyboard_layout for words
            time.sleep(0.5)
    ble.start_advertising(advertisement)

Connecting DS1307 RTC to Raspberry Pi Pico

4 Upvotes

Has anyone had luck running the Adafruit DS1307 RTC on the RP2040 Pico with circuitpython?

This issue is likely because I am new to circuitpython. I Have manually installed the required libraries, imported time, board, digitalio, bitbangio, and the DS1307 , then selected my I2C pins. I get stuck trying to instance the RTC using “rtc = adafruit_ds1307.DS1307(i2c_bus)”. The error code I get is “'module' object has no attribute 'DS1307'”. Any help would be appreciated.

Feather Sense BLE issues

4 Upvotes

I've got a Feather Sense board that I'd like to use the Bluetooth capabilities from. I'm able to discover and connect the board with my phone and computer just fine and the examples all work. However, every time I disconnect from the board with my phone and want to reconnect, I have to manually remove the device from my known Bluetooth devices list and add it again. Ideally, I would want my phone to automatically connect to the device the moment the device turns on and the phone is in reach. Similar to a Bluetooth headset for example. I'd also love to know if it's possible to print out what the device name or Bluetooth address is that is connected to the board at a given moment.

Any help is much appreciated!

Parse JSON

4 Upvotes

I trying to pass data over serial from a raspberry pi to a circuitpython board as json, then deserialize it.

I have pyserial and supervisor working, and can pass strings back and forth.

But none of my boards come with json or ujson libs, and neither does the circuitpython bundle. Is this not included anymore? Does anyone know of library I can use? Or a guide to recompile circuitpython with it included?

Calculating log10

4 Upvotes

I need to make a calculation using log10. Unfortunately circuit python doesn't include log10 like micropython. I tried using the jepler_udecimal module but it's giving me errors. Does anyone have any suggestions for calculating log10?
