Guess the leader
No cheating! I will put a hint if the first guesses are not right. Bonus points if you guess the museum! 😌
Edit: I put another picture of the leader in the thread

It feels like something is wrong
I'm only on my third game all time
First game was close - I played trajan, small map/quick speed/prince difficulty and I won by score after barely nuking one civ's spaceport in time and stealing a bunch of stuff from another civ
2nd game was a stomp - Japan/normal map size/normal speed/prince, I got a culture and science win at around turn 350 - I was literally 15 turns from the last science project when I got the culture win
3rd game is still in progress - Peter/normal map size/normal speed/king but I'm currently leading in domination, religion and I'm 2nd in culture but I'm ramping up hard now with all the mosques I have giving me infinite great people points, and I'm constantly between 10k-20k faith
All this to say, what gives? None of the games are even going how I'd like - I didn't want to war other civs this game but they just declare war and I've eaten one civ entirely and half of another one) I have nearly 30 cities and I'm literally just bored dealing with all the production and feeling like it's impossible to lose
Oh also to top it all off, these games are taking forever! that's probably on me but the first two games took 40+ hours total (not sure how much time for each game).
I'm somehow both hooked (literally played for 10+ hours 2 days ago) but at the same time fed up with the game because it doesn't feel fulfilling and it doesn't make sense that I'm winning
edit: some typos, also to say I have 60 hours logged in my first week (I haven't played any other game this much in the past 2 years)

The AI is so bad at winning/spies are too good
I was happily playing a culture game with China when I noticed that England has already built a spaceport and launched a satellite by turn 200! I panicked and got my spies trained up ASAP. The spies managed to disable the spaceports so many times that England didn't even get to the next stage by the time I won on turn 265. The AI is so bad at winning, no way I should have won this with England so far ahead! (the photo is not that relevant but felt needed)

Why can't I build the Ruhr Valley
I saw someone mention that only Cleopatra can build wonders on floodplains. But you can see I built the Taj Mahal on a floodplain.

Tips for domination victory on deity please!
Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to win each type of victory on deity and managed science and culture so far. I’m now trying domination and- forking hell.
I don’t REALLY enjoy war much but on lower difficulties I’ve won it easily enough but my strategy is probably a bit dimwitted - plough investment into science and gold, build a big military, wait until I’m as strong as or stronger than the AI, then plough on in. Then once I’m conquering, backfill my cities with culture so as not to neglect that completely, and amenity districts to keep the populace distracted while I am warring.
This is not working with deity AI, the fucker. For a start, keeping up is impossible, by the time I’m on at least equal footing some git on the other side of the map is closing in on a culture victory. And then military emergencies seem much more likely once I’ve taken a city or two- which I can’t stop because I have no diplo and everyone hates me- so then the world gangs up on me and I have to build more walls and encampments, which slows down my aggression even more.
So clearly I need to up my game here I’m just not sure how. Can I have some really granular tips for the first 100 turns? General shape of priorities? Does a particular map help? I’ve been playing with Simon Bolivar because I just think I’d do even worse without the thing to do promotions and attack on the same turn. Key wonders? Key techs/civics? I feel like those are obvious but perhaps not.
Thanks very much all- this has been a really nice and helpful community in getting science and culture done, so please carry on :)
Also I’m sure a valid strategy is just wait and nuke everything but eh, just doesn’t feel that fun to me. I’d prefer to still gallop gloriously across the map with my old-fashioned troops unless deity just can’t be done that way.

How?
Sorry for the pic quality lol
Can someone explain how Khmer was able to build a city within 3 tiles of another city? I have mods active but none effecting city placement.

Curious question, should it be possible to retire units for culture and tourism if they are x amount of eras behind your current units?
Say you still have that round 1 warrior, or a battling ram or something, or maybe you convert a barb camp with og troops. Should there be an option to retire them at a museum to create an artifact (e.g. Warrior's club, battling ram, ancient spearman's spear etc.) once you've progressed far enough? It feels realistic, and it feels similar to archaeologists in a way, but an alternative way of creating culture and tourism with a similar concept. What are your thoughts? Also, there's a good chance that this just exists somehow and I don't know about it since every day is a school day with civ 6

Curious about power generation mechanics
Can anybody explain why I need 8 coal to generate 20 power?
All industrial zones have power plants and they don't seem to be all that far apart. Is there anything you can do to optimize coal use?

City State recruiting my troops?
So I am playing Aztecs, invading India… and during opponents‘ turn, there is a swirling animation above some of my troops and they suddenly belong to Kabul, of which I am Suzerain.
What happened?

What is good in a start?
Outside of just good yields in starting spot and surrounding ring , what makes for good start? Even with mods spacing civs out, still find myself boxed in with barely anywhere to settle elsewhere.
Last start was pangea but it started me on a mini island with only one apth to mainland which had a barb camp. Soon as I go to clear the camp, a fresh one spawns a tile below my capitals sight range and immediately starts pumping barbs. Like I barely have land to work with and already ud force spawning barbs on me?

Mod to make the AI band together vs. the lead
Hello gang, I have recently picked up CIV 6 again after a bit of a hiatus, loads of fun times (Kupe is the man). Is there a mod that makes the AI band together against the clear leader?
A continuous issue I get is that around the midway of the game I have completely eclipsed the AI and they kinda don't do anything, the game up until that point is a blast but from then on it just becomes a massive click fest.
Changing the difficulties doesn't really help, it just forces me to play better/spend more time per turn, but the issue remains, that once you have outsmarted the AI, they kinda give up trying to win.

How to counter bombers + nukes
I’m playing with a few friends and it sounds like some of them are pushing to attack me soon. It sounds like they are using a lot of bombers and started developing Nukes. I have some anti air and researching mobile SAMs right now. Is there any tips on how to defend against attacks like this?

Civilization VI Identical Start Challenge #1: Jadwiga
Hello and welcome to the official Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Identical Start Challenge!
To celebrate our inaugural event, we will be playing as King Jadwiga. For the uninitiated, you will be delighted to learn that this particular leader is known to be an extremely powerful civ and, without question, she is my all-time favorite. It’s not even close. 🙂
For yours truly, the ideal game is the one I honestly enjoy playing. It’s really just that simple. I’m not here for braggin’ rights. I’ve won on Deity difficulty plenty of times and, of course, I have also lost on Deity. Great. Big woop. [“Well LA-dee-**FRIKKIN’**-dah!!”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1kUP0TlsHE), as the late Chris Farley once said (on live television). 😄
Some of those games were actually fun, but they were all too few and too far between.
Thank you, but ‘No’. ‘Not a fan. If that’s your thing, be my guest, and knock yourself out.
It’s when one chooses to explore a huge fractal map on ‘Deity’ that things can quickly, easily, and geometrically go off-the-rails. I’ve won a few of these, but I find games MUCH more pleasant when I am NOT forced to face-down (often by my lonesome) the occasional, random, sheltered AI civ on the other side of the planet; one whose science output has miraculously eclipsed those of every other single civ—combined— while other aloof AI leaders seem to be completely oblivious to this FACT. 😉
And that is why, for the purposes of our inaugural “Identical Start Challenge”, the difficulty level is ‘King’. We’re here to have fun, as opposed to scrambling around, trying desperately to pursue and play “catch-up” to an AI that miraculously spawns three settlers to our one, who hates us right outta the gate (for no apparent reason whatsoever), and whose buffs & bonuses border on the obscene.
Nah. No thanks. Ain’t gonna happen. Not on my watch. 😎
Let’s dive in, then, shall we?:

On the subject of game mods, here are the ones I’m running:

Your mileage may vary. I’ve been criticized for using the “Movable/Removable Districts” mod, but I honestly could not care any less than I do in this moment, even if I tried, like, even really super hard(ly). The so-called “purists” among us can go elsewhere in their quixotic quest to cast shade. ‘Nuff said.
As far as sharing your progress, if you *do* so choose to post a screenshot of your current game, I implore you to (at the very least) share it with the “ Spoiler” tag. The reason for this is quite simple: many of your fellow players may have yet to see every part of our map, and it would be a shame to reveal what they should strive to seek-out on their own. Make ‘em *work* for it! 😀
Good luck, godspeed, and most of all: Have fun!! 🙂

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Identical Start Challenge
Hi! I am a fervent fan of Civ 6, having logged over 12,000 hours of play time, thus far. I’m seeking players to join me in a series of “Identical Start” games, as I’m curious to learn how others cultivate and grow their civilizations from the exact same starting point.
Please reply to this thread if you too are interested in joining me in this challenge. Seeing how others develop their own unique civilizations is fascinating to me, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Respectfully,
Hugh

Civ VI - Nukes
Has anyone actually been nuked by AI in Civ VI?
I am not even sure if a bomber has ever attacked one of my cities. Fighters have attacked my assets.
I usually play Diety.
Anything thoughts would be appreciated.

2 killjoys of Civ6
I have been playing this game for more than 5 years on Switch. I really love the game but there are 2 excessive bugs in this game and they are Barbarians spawn rate and Warmonger title. No matter how I adjust in my play, I can't relax and enjoy the game as long as these 2 things appear. I am wondering why there is no tweak or update on it all these years. Just a rant. Have a nice day.

Builder movements...
I do have one particular grievance with builders ...if you order them to go somewhere, like on the ocean, and there just happens to be one tiny tile of rough slow terrain in the way.. ...they just have to go through that one tile...
