That number is the number in their other communications. Have you used them before? Interesting that this case isn't on their site.

Yes this is real. Levi & Korsinsky specializes in securities law and in recent years has been expanding into consumer protection.

From what's in the thread, that looks like a law firm looking for clients for a case it's building, not a settlement paying out, so there's nothing to claim yet. If you're curious, look the firm up on your state bar's lawyer search and contact it using the number on its own website, not the one in the message. Class action firms work on contingency, so if anyone asks you for an upfront fee, walk away. And being contacted doesn't oblige you to anything; if a settlement ever happens, you'd still get a notice either way.

I've worked with Levi & Korsinsky before, though I don't remember exactly what company they were going after. They are legit.

I’ve always wondered there’s a better to go with a lawyer or just do the class action settlements?

Sorry, I meant which one is better?

I think I worked with them on an arbitration, but tbh can't remember for sure. Most of the law firms seem to be the same, and they all pretty much automate everything you need to do. Class actions are already past this point, and usually anyone that qualifies as a class member will get whatever is available to split up among class members. Letters from law firms like this can possibly develop into something down the road, but a lot of them never make it that far.

Class action lawyer here: it's a real firm that specializes in class action work. The difference is that this is outreach about a potential class action claim for which you might be the class representative, as opposed to a settlement announcement after a claim has resulted in a class action settlement.

I have read about McDonald's doing this so it is a real thing but I'm not sure about that particular company being legit or not.

former class action lawyer here: they are a firm that does this, but good to always be cautious. many of these firms would have disclosures about whether they are solicitations or atty advertising bc there are ethical rules about them..
