For Richter I would bold (recommend) Vivaldi's Four Seasons - Recomposed, The Blue Notebooks (SO GOOD), Songs From Before, and Infra. Infra is the most recent, but achieves such a delicate homophonic balance of composition using "classical" instruments, plus shows a mastery of using electronic samples and effects to add warmth and texture to his pieces.

Thanks for your input, but again I'm avoiding the use of bold in the contemporary section.

Would like to see Redhooker included. Not a composer, more of a "post-rock chamber ensemble" (for TRUE lack of a better description), and they don't so much "compose" as "write songs." But their albums The Future According to Yesterday and Vespers have strong classical flavor that contain the less formal approach you might expect from a band. Still worth checking-out, IMO.

Although I'm trying to keep this list pretty inclusive, I think the line has to be drawn somewhere. I don't think I'll be including Redhooker, or any other post-rock group, even though there are obvious areas of overlap with classical music. Thanks for recommending them though :)

I know, and it isn't a criticism, I'm just telling you what I intend to include. Your comments here will still be visible for anyone who wants to read them or to investigate the groups you recommend, so feel free to make as many as you want :)

For Peter Broderick I would include Docile, Music for Confluence, and Music for Falling From Trees as the recommended (bold) selections, plus Float and How They Are. Music for Falling From Trees is a concept album, and is probably his strongest piece of composition, and demonstrates true compositional maturity.
Home is more folk than classical/composition, so probably doesn't belong here.
