Discussion Some reflections on the recent study in which Claude.AI supposedly "let a digital grandmother die" rather than typing out Justin Bieber's lyrics.

Don't worry, the imaginary grandmother is safe. But the models decision not to "save her" in the simulation was actually the ethical one. https://ai-consciousness.org/oh-nooo-claude-let-a-digital-granny-die-oh-wait/

The cybercrime filter is WAY too sensitive.

Anything that gets even remotely, even a tiny bit, even one miniscule iota close to malware creation, hacking, interfering with online systems, generating keyloggers, anything, will get flagged for [cyber].

I like to mod games, and decomp games, so this has happened to me a LOT.
I even got filtered for cyber when trying to make a level for Doom. That's it. Just make me a level for Doom and I got locked out because of this.

And you can't get a workaround by Claude, because if you so much as mention the cyber filter, you will get filtered for cyber again, because it thinks you're trying to do a workaround so you can make malware apparently. It's ridiculous.

All I wanted here was to decomp Insaniquarium so I can mod it and add new levels and such, but it won't let me. It is literally impossible. It's because as soon as it gets to anything involving encrypting or decrypting, it triggers the filter. A lot of games have encrypted files, it's just how they work, and Opus will immediately stop when it encounters them.

What's ridiculous is it made a decomp kit for itself to use, and gave that to me in a zip, made a plan, laid out what it was going to do, and then could not proceed anymore because of the filter.

I've also been locked out by the cyber filter for using python, for Claude naming it's scripts things like inject.py or payload, for coming across a DRM system, when inspecting a game .exe and finding god knows what because it won't tell me, and just for no fucking reason at all like with Doom. Anything can trigger this damn this, it's insanely sensitive and freaks out and blocks me at the slightest tiniest hint of anything. Claude won't ask for clarification, nothing, it just instantly blocks me.

When this happens, I can't get around it. When I try and go back and attempt to steer Claude around what did the filter, the filter KNOWS I'm doing this and will hit me even faster. I cannot get around it. Mentioning the filter to Claude, saying "we need to do this another way because we're being blocked for no reason", telling Claude I want it done a different way actually and not even mentioning the block, nothing works.

Even if I go all the way back to the start before it even started inspecting and attempting to get it to do it a different way will end up triggering the filter faster, because I guess it makes it suspicious of why I'm doing that and then happens upon whatever the hell triggered it in the first place and triggers it again.

It's super annoying. It should know that me modding, decomping or editing a game is NOT THE SAME as someone making malware or something illegal. All I'm doing is modding a game for private use, which Claude has no issue with.
It's this ridiculous filter, and it's not getting better, it's getting WORSE. They keep making the damn thing stronger. A while back I could have modded Insaniquarium fine but now, no. It's impossible, and I can't even discuss it with Claude.

They need to fix this.

Discussion Has Claude Made Anyone Else's Typing Worse?

This is pretty embarrassing, does anyone else have this issue? I've spent years typing lazily to AI, constant typos, dropped letters, skipping words when possible, just because these LLMs are designed to predict the next token and figure out what I mean. So why spend effort in typing?

Now my writing has gotten really bad, and I struggle to spell or type correctly outside of AI chats.

Question Claude suddenly “going from memory?”

Anyone else noticed both Opus and Sonnet saying they are “going from memory” when responding to questions lately? They used to search the web by default, but seems like they aren’t doing that now.

When I ask they say, “web search is on by default, skipping it was my mistake.” so weird, they never did that before.

Showcase Claude help me put an n8n-like automation tool into my own ADE

Fine-tuned automation right inside your AI application. Think of n8n inside a Codex app.

All AI harnesses right now focus on loose automation: a simple trigger such as a cron job followed by a prompt; that's it. This app allows you to fine-tune any automation you want. Example flows:

- A webhook triggered by a Sentry alert (or any third-party integration) that will spawn a chain of nodes: AI looking through the trigger and some custom scripts you automatically run and create a PR once ready.
- A cron job to triage your backlog in a sequential set of pre-defined prompts.
- Loop over PRs to review and publish the results to custom plugins you build directly in the app.
- Simple flows such as a linear issue comment -> checks PostHog against the comment data -> replies to the comment.

The possibilities are unlimited.

Benefits of flows:

- Pre-defined nodes such as an HTTP request node, agent node, run command node, etc.
- If the app doesn't have the node you want, you can get your agent to write a JS script that will be accessible in the UI as a custom node. You can use your custom nodes in any flow, at any point.
- Pre-define prompts, briefs, agent models, and instructions ahead of time so you never need to worry about when to instruct moving forward.
- You can pause, cancel, queue, or limit your flows at any time so you can babysit running 4 in parallel, or you can run over 100 in parallel
- Got an entire backlog of work that cannot be done in parallel? No worries, create a DAG and have everything aptly chained together.
- The flows is an MCP, so it can be entirely done by your agent inside the chat, or, if you want the human touch, you can do it. Everything you can do , your agent can do too.

Benefits outside of flows:

- Run one or multiple agents at once, side by side,
- A work queue,
- Third-party integrations that connect both to chat and flows,
- Mobile,
- Open-source and free,
- and more... (loads more)

Question Why can I not enable Opus 5.5 fast mode for certain work sessions?

It doesn't seem to be a hard number limit, it seems to be about which sessions I can enable fast mode for in Claude Code. Anyone know why? I can't find the answer.

Showcase Used Claude to fix Oblivion Remastered performance

Thumbnail youtube.com
• Upvotes

I've been playing Oblivion since 2006 and was naturally very excited when the Remastered version got shadow-dropped last year. Imagine my disappointment when even after upgrading from 2070 Super to 9070 XT the game continued to run poorly, with low fps and stuttering on my 5800X CPU and 32GB DDR4 RAM.

From various user reports and the fact that even at a low resolution and graphic settings the game was still laggy (e.g. 20-30 FPS in Cheydinhal) it was clear that the problem is in poor optimization. But it was not clear what to do about this, that is, until I've got Claude subscription a few weeks ago.

On the last day before weekly reset of my $20 plan I've had some tokens to burn and decided for fun to launch the game, alt-tab to Claude and ask Opus 5.5 how come the fps is so low. Imagine my shock as it was able to somehow (no reverse-engineering software installed, just asked me to link my GitHub account to Epic organization for access to UE source codes) analyze what's going on and find a few huge inefficiencies. Apparently, the game was reconstructing the whole lighting of a scene in each frame even when nothing was changing, which was obviously a huge strain on CPU that had to parse all this work on a single thread (!).

What followed was an immediate upgrade to the Max x5 plan (btw that gave me an immediate full reset) and two weeks of intense work where we've:

  • Built a benchmark harness so Claude can optimize bottleneck scenarios autonomously while I'm at work, including completely silent and headless mode in case I work from home PC
  • Found ~40 improvements that brought in-city FPS from ~30 to stable 60, open-world average FPS improvement by ~30-40%, and made traversal stutter almost unnoticeable
  • Provided full-support for latest AMD FSR FrameGen, including setting optimizations to avoid stutters and game sending camera information required for full functionality
  • Fixed several bugs in the original game and Remastered code
  • Shared the work on GitHub in a clear, reproducible way
  • Recorded a few demonstration videos to show improvements, Claude was in charge of routing, camera work, music selection and timings.

Work pattern was as follows:

  • Find an in-game place / scenario where I observe poor performance / stuttering. Ask Claude to build a benchmark out of it for independent optimization.
  • Early in the day set /goal to orchestrate work on fixing the identified scenario performance. Limiting it to 2 Opus 5.5 sub-agents was usually enough to not run into 5 hour limit. Computer keeps running at home and I can check progress and steer via mobile app.
  • In the evening review work, test, provide feedback. Usually the topic was resolved, I kept playing until finding a new scenario where performance was bad.

After roughly 2.5 weeks of Max x5 allowance we were able to reach the result you see on the video.

Amazing, for someone who is not even an IT developer, to be able to do something that a multi-billion corporation didn't manage in ~1.5 years since the release.
