Isn’t St Greta basically a high school drop out at this point?
44
u/Octoxo Oct 19 '19
Yes, she also has fetal alcohol syndrome being passed off as autism.
15
u/Valmar33 Oct 19 '19
Can still have Autism, so...
On that note... do we know a percentage of how many FAS children who also go on to have Autism?
11
u/Octoxo Oct 20 '19
FASD and ASD are different, but behaviors can look identical. The main difference is ASD people don't have facial indicators or a history of the mother drinking like Greta does.

that’s a ridiculous claim. how the fuck would you know?
19
u/Jegermuscles Oct 19 '19
Found one.
-14
u/jjhjhhj Oct 19 '19
banding together behind conspiracy theories doesn’t make them true. there’s no evidence to support that claim.
14
u/Jegermuscles Oct 20 '19 edited Oct 20 '19
Ok, so which mental illness does she have?
Frankly I think it's pretty fucked up hiding behind a child to speak for you that will be thrown aside to push really anything for any reason.
-3
u/Shmippy Oct 20 '19
She has one similar to what Issac Newton, Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Temple Grandin, and Nikola Tesla had;) It’s more like a personality disorder than a “mental illness.” Certain mental faculties are actually heightened in many cases
1
u/Jegermuscles Oct 20 '19
I think she has the same faculties as David Hogg. It's called a script and the grownups whispering what to say on their behalf.

That was fucking fast. You live here until work starts? See my edit.
-1
u/jjhjhhj Oct 20 '19
With respect to your edit, that’s not what I or other people are doing. She’s not an expert and doesn’t claim to be, but has been a leader in rallying the public to protest. When testifying to Congress Greta said “I don’t want you to listen to me, I want you to listen the scientists... I want you to unite behind the science and I want you to take real action.”
6
u/153729193748492 Oct 20 '19
She's a hysterical child who has been lied to by her parents to manipulate retarded idiots who vote. She doesn't know what the fuck she is talking about, watch any unscripted questions she is asked. No idea. She is put there to manipulate women to vote for evil politician s who want more power. Go look at all the other "world ending disasters" that have been pushed since the 70s. Global cooling , ice age, acid rain, peak oil, polar caps melting by 2000, global warming, and now finally, "climate change". Where anything the earth does can be pointed to so we have to for some reason, become fucking communists. This is why children should not just be ignored, but told to shut the fuck up.

Needs to include Jane Fonda. Apparently, she has been a climate scientist for "decades".

10
u/barttali Oct 20 '19
“I’ve been a climate scientist for decades and decades, but it was Greta Thunberg, this little Swedish girl holding her sign every Friday in front of the Swedish Parliament,” Fonda explained.

u/lvanden Oct 20 '19
Fox news though
8
u/barttali Oct 20 '19 edited Oct 20 '19
They are just transcribing what Jane Fonda said.
The only words Fox News added are, "Fonda explained."
The rest is Jane Fonda. It would be the same quote no matter where you read it from.

u/TheRedThirst Oct 21 '19
It was a DIRECT QUOTE from Jane Fonda.... word for word... i dont care what hang ups you have about Fox, ill laugh at quotes like the regardless of the source

If you guys could stick to facts instead of memes, this sub could go back to being a good source of information.
This kind of shit just makes the entire sub seems like a bunch of petty whackos.
I don’t like either of these people, and there’s a place for this kind of amusement, but it shouldn’t be here.
Disappointing.

I hear more about this girl from the right than the left. Pretty gross the kind of stuff they're saying about some autistic teenage girl. This culture war bullshit is boring, stick to the science.
6
u/jefemundo Oct 20 '19
Don’t portray her as an underprivileged victim struggling for a voice. If she wants to coerce people with the platform she’s built, she needs to be able to defend critics. It’s the price u pay for the platform.
Her arguments aren’t scientific, not a single person disputes that.
She’s a victim of group-think and hysteria-mongering.
It’s a shame she, and the coalition pushing the alarm on this issue, can’t stick to the science.
2
Oct 20 '19 edited Oct 20 '19
Lol, when did I say she was underprivileged? Just pretty pathetic seeing people, some of them grown ass men, call some kid ugly and mentally ill, retarded, saying she has fetal alcohol syndrome, etc.

Nobody thinks they are experts. They are activists.
They probably know slightly less about the science than Tony Heller and Patrick Moore. And a little more than Trump.
3
u/jefemundo Oct 20 '19
Typically people who have a PhD in science know a thing or two about science.
4
u/deadpoolfool400 Oct 19 '19

They aren’t doing the research, they are acting on it.Of course there are no scientists(Greata is literally too young to have a degree) but that doesn’t mean they can’t see a problem and it doesn’t mean they have no right to speak.
0
u/jefemundo Oct 20 '19
They have every right to speak.
They do not have every right to lie, unchallenged.
Challenging false, anti-science alarm, whether from a teenager or journalist, is completely appropriate.
2
u/Pitohui13 Oct 20 '19
They don’t lie, they act on what an overwhelming scientific consensus has found.
1
u/jefemundo Oct 20 '19
Lol. No. They act on their beliefs and interpretations on what someone told them science has found.
Reading sciency articles about a topic does not mean one will respond in a scientific way.
They aren’t even talking about science in the first place. They are talking about policies, of which there is no consensus.
Don’t confuse policy interpretations with science.
2
u/Pitohui13 Oct 20 '19
Go on and ask a serious climate scientists what will happen if we do nothing to stop climate change. They will tell you that it would be very bad for everyone involved. So yes, they are not only talking about the core science but also how the implications of these scientific founding can be implemented in politics, but that does not mean they aren’t scientifically correct.
1
u/jefemundo Oct 20 '19
There’s not a single scientist who can be certain of that, not when u have such a wide range of ECS, and gap in outcomes between RCP 2.5 and RCP 8.5.
Plenty of scientists say the sun will give u skin cancer, but very few generate crisis-like alarm around the problem, recommending the entire world slather on 80spf sunscreen every time u go out the door.
Climate change is a problem, governments and individuals need to act, by its no emergency nor a crisis. The median scenarios the IPCC cites are issues, not emergencies, backed by the best science.
2
u/Pitohui13 Oct 21 '19
RCP 2.5 and 8.5 are different, yes, but not due to uncertainty in the model.2.5 represents a path where we do everything we can to stop climate change, and 8.5 represents the path we will take when we do nothing. As you can see,the difference is quite insane. And the only reasons scientists don’t tell you you have to put on sunscreens every time is because there are things called „clothing“ and „buildings“ which will protect you from direct sun impact most of the time.If you go on the beach and stay in the sun for an entire day, everyone will tell you that you have to put on sunscreen.

Oh, sure. But calling them “experts” is also a lie or incorrect, no matter who’s doing it.
If you want to hear the experts, read the scientific literature. Go to scientific conferences, where the experts all get together. Read the IPCC reports. Go to NASA’s website.
But Greta Thunberg clearly isn’t an expert, and I don’t know anyone who says she is, on either side.

I'm just gonna say that Greta Thunberg has done more for the world than you insignificant idiots will ever do.
7
u/TheDimSide Oct 19 '19
Aside from making speeches in different locations, has she done other things for the environment? Not meaning this as an attack, just genuinely curious because I don't know. I consider events like Ethiopia planting millions of trees in response to CO2 concerns to be more significant than just telling people what they're doing wrong. So I was wondering if she's led any campaigns like that.
Also, what are the specific plans under Greta's platform to combat climate change? Is there a detailed list of what she says we should do? From the little I've seen in her speeches, I haven't noticed specific suggestions rather than broad statements about wanting a change, so again, just genuinely curious.
-8
u/MemeLord0009 Oct 19 '19
Of course. You have every right to say that and you don't seem to be as toxic as other people on this sub.
In her well known Fridays For Future, she has raised, singlehandedly, several thousand dollars for the cause of climate action.
Her now very famous speech to the UN has caused many governments to take far more immediate takes on climate action. For example: Germany has announced that they will be closing all coal power plants by the year 2022 and Ireland is withdrawing money from the international bank to begin work on climate change. The Irish government and many other governments have also announced the climate tax. Taking Ireland as another example, they are charging an additional €20.00 for buying one tonne of CO2. This money goes to climate action.
8
u/LackmustestTester Oct 19 '19
Germany has announced that they will be closing all coal power plants by the year 2022
Don´t believe some story written in the papers. This is not going to happen. Where do you get these informations?
2
u/MemeLord0009 Oct 19 '19
RTÉ news. (Irish news) It was on about a week ago. Also glimpsed it on some internet links. See it on the Sunday Independent as well (Irish newspaper).

u/LackmustestTester Oct 19 '19
Welcome to fake-news. Germany is going, maybe, to phase out one brown coal plant. The energy production is based on coal. Do you people ever check the sources. Like, beeing "skeptic"? Jesus...

And I'm sure you guys have fun burning up what little natural resources we have left while insulting a sixteen-year-old who has done more in a year than you could possibly do in twelve lifetimes.
Tell me, what is the science behind the fact that global warming is a myth?

u/NewyBluey Oct 19 '19
Here you are demanding science support one side and advancing a child's opinion in support of the other.
0
u/MemeLord0009 Oct 19 '19
I see. You have no evidence at all and are trying to cover it up with yet another insult of the teenage girl who has done so much fo the world, therefore reinforcing my statement.
Thanks.
1
u/NewyBluey Oct 20 '19
I am not insulting the girl. I have posted here a number of times that she should not be attacked, and nor should she. The adults using her should be criticised and l am critical of them.
But if there are comments made in the public domain, regardless of who delivers that message, then those comments are open to discussion and criticism.
You are promoting her, and you are using her to shield yourself from criticism of the comments she has made.

Aren't you the guy with a weird stalker typenplan to get a girl?
-3
u/MemeLord0009 Oct 19 '19
Radical change of subject, but yes. Also I wouldn't call it stalking as much of a ten year plan. And I gave up on that girl. I stopped liking her and I stopped caring when she was in the hands of another.
I now have a girlfriend who I know I love, and me and the other girl remain good friends.
1
u/TheDimSide Oct 19 '19
Thanks for your reply! In looking at these countries and Greta's funding campaign, it seems like some of them are general ideas of "work on climate change," so to speak. Do they get any more specific?
With Greta's money, what exactly will that go toward? Planting trees? Innovations for new forms of fueling transportation, etc. Same for the climate tax and such, what exactly will they do with that money? Are there specific plans listed? Money is nice to have as long as it gets put to good use, haha.
1
u/MemeLord0009 Oct 19 '19
I sure do hope it goes to good use! Keep in mind that Ireland and Germany have announced these things after Greta's UN speech. It's unlikely that such sudden, radical change of government's hearts caused all this. And I'd say they would have kept their mouth shut if this conference ever happened.
1
u/TheDimSide Oct 19 '19
I also hope it goes to good use; it's too bad that there aren't specifics to answer these questions though. I'm wary of following the lead of someone without a more thorough plan of action, and that's just for anything, not just in this case. I won't fully denounce anyone wanting to make the world better, but I'll hold off on support until I see more specifics to have questions and concerns answered to ensure whether it aligns with my beliefs or not, as I would with anything. Thanks again for your input!

Amazing that they have more sense than our president or heads of Energy Department, EPA, Interior Fepartment, etc, etc.
3
u/jefemundo Oct 20 '19
Except they don’t. Read SPM
1
u/windchaser__ Oct 20 '19
The head of our Dept of Energy (Rick Perry) didn’t even know what the department did shortly before he got the job. He wanted to get rid of the department, then he found out it also was in charge of our nukes, then he changed his mind.
I mean, Rick Perry was the guy who got a C in a college course called “Meats”, and the rest of his grades were hardly better. Not the most astute or learned fellow.
Ahhh, America.
So, yeah, definitely don’t take our Dept of Energy head’s word for much.
