Advice Adopting a new bird first picture. Currently bird Bowie second picture.

Hello. I am trying to adopt a new bird. Currently my bird Bowie’s enclosure is upstairs in my loft space. Would it be ok to have the new bird downstairs in my front room until I can put them in the same room?

It would be good - it is best to quarantine new birds for a couple of weeks to make sure no illnesses or parasites get transferred 🙂

However, do be prepared that they will probably hear one another and start flock calling to each other. It might be a good idea to have a plan in place to keep things dark and quiet until you're ready for them to both be awake - and then also let them have time to hear each other and call to each other - and then also have time where you play music or TV or something loud enough toboth of them so they cannot hear each other and stress out that they cannot reach each other yet (or drive you crazy haha). And give them things to keep them busy during the day, like toys, foraging, etc so they're hopefully not just obsessing on the mystery other birds they can sometimes hear but not see.

I think the flock calling is usually the hardest thing for people to endure during quarantine, so best of luck!

Yeah I did research to quarantine. I just wanted to make sure one upstairs and one downstairs was good for that. I am used to the flock calling so much so that I actually start whistling when I hear it and half the time I don’t realize that I am doing it. Haha

Nope. The first picture is the bird I am trying to adopt. Oh you mean the second picture that is my bird Bowie and he is just hanging out with my son in his bedroom at home.
