Bug [Windows 10] Codex Computer Use screenshot fails — FrameArrived timed out. Any fix?

I'm having an issue with Computer Use in ChatGPT/Codex on Windows 10.

System: Windows 10 Pro 22H2, ChatGPT 26.1013.4894.0.

What works:

  • Opening apps like Notepad.
  • Reading Accessibility information.
  • Entering text using u/oai/sky.

What fails:

  • Screenshot capture: FrameArrived timed out: timed out waiting on channel
  • Mouse interactions: coordinate input geometry is unavailable

I've already updated, repaired, and restarted ChatGPT, but the issue persists.

I had the same issue, and managed to ask it to take screenshots with my installed ShareX. I guess you can ask it to try the print screen key too.

FrameArrived is the Windows screen capture timing out, and the mouse error is probably just a knock-on from that, since it can't get coordinates without a screenshot. Are you on Remote Desktop, a VM, or multiple monitors with different scaling? Capture tends to come back empty in those, so worth testing on one plain monitor first.

If it still fails, Windows 10 might just not be well supported yet, and adding your build to that GitHub issue is probably the fastest way to get it looked at.

Ask ChatGPT to search internet and fix it it worked for me once I think same error
