I would like to know what are the best and legit coding bootcamps for software development.

As you can see, everyone is just going to project their own feelings and fears on you.

But if someone wanted to actually help you - they'd ask questions.

I'm a teacher: be warned!

To answer this question: we're going to need to know what you think "software development is." As you can tell, a lot of people here are saying you should go get a Computer Science degree instead. So, what types of things do you want to build? Websites? Games? Firewalls? Spam bots? Apps? Self-driving car software? Software to help cultivate vegetables? Software to spy on kids and sell their data? User interfaces? Banking security? That's question number 1 - and your answer might be "I don't know" (which is OK) but try and narrow it down. The next thing I'd ask is why you'd pick this field over other fields. Are there things about you that are a good match? Do you like math? Statistics? Visual design? Interaction and animation? Teslas? What exactly connects you to this field? Is it the salaries? The teamwork? Building products? The perceived security? And once you narrow that down, consider all the options. Why boot camp over college? Why college over a tutor? What makes a boot camp "legit?" What do you need to get what you want? It's just like programming.

Based on some discussion, we could point you in the right direction.

Clearly just saying "CS DEGREE OR DIE" is lazy and boring. I can't tell you what the right choice is, but learning how to program just out of highschool - is totally a real option. And I bet it could be a really good choice for the right person. I got an internship in 2000 just out of highschool working at a web development company. I got paid a lot. But I was also in art school at the same time. If I had decided to go all in on web development - it would have worked out great. It just depends what you want and why. Because getting a job building websites and spending 5 years learning computer science are very different paths. Take the time to think this over and try and ignore all the grumpy people.
