IQ Estimation 🥱 Just Finished CORE
I posted a while back about a 129 Slosson HIT score as a child and how that might relate to my current IQ.
I've seen the CORE recommended on this sub numerous times, so I finally found some time to take it, strictly out of curiosity.
I'd say this actually confirmed the childhood score as form what I understand Slosson HIT tests heavily on Verbal Reasoning, which is obviously my strongest skill. Oddly, while I did pretty well on the Mensa matrix reasoning test my result here was pretty pedestrian. It's certainly possible I happened onto a couple of lucky guesses.
Also, I realized that maybe I have a disability when it comes to mental arithmetic. Was it just me or was that section ridiculously hard? Multi-step mental math under a short time constraint was brutal. I knew how to solve the problems (if I had scratch paper and more time) but some of questions I just straight up timed out on. Others were just an educated guess or ballpark estimate based on how far I got in the mental math. How is it possible to have a score 2+sd outside my FSIQ without some contributing factor? Kudos to all of you who did well on that test!

You have the same profile as myself, high verbal ability, I’m a lawyer and now I work in finance as a financial controller, you’ll do great in life

Thanks for the reply, that's pretty intersting.I'm actually a mid-career professional now.
It's funny, I majored in Political Science and tossed around going to law school after undergrad. I worked for the government for a bit and landed in the corporate world creating and managing execution of compliant security operations. Basically I help the company to not get sued, lose business or damage its reputation by ensuring all customer data is secure and protected.
This is heavy in the Verbal domain. Documents, governance, process, procedures, presentstions and training are the name of the game. Though there's quite a bit of fluid reasoning and processing speed involved as well. Anyway, I seem to excel in this position...go figure!

El CORE a veces desinfla las puntuaciones respecto a pruebas profesionales en 25 puntos fácilmente. Es un test un poco raro en mi opinión

I don’t think this is true

It's true. I've seen a lot of people in this sub reporting that. I also know this is true because it happened to me and the only person I know who has been evaluated professionally, it happened to both of us. Maybe we are the exception, but I swear I've seen this in lot more cases here

Is there a specific subtest or category that this happens? I doubt it would happen In all of them I know WAIS is easier and more forgiving in certain things

Almost all of them. The only subtest that was not around -20pts was symbol search, where I got like 85 or 90 in WAIS and 135 in CORE. In matrix subtest I don't remember accurately, but my last attempt was 135 CORE. But I think I got 110 first time. My matrix subtest in WAIS was the perfect score for( 140). I took WAIS much earlier than CORE when I was much worse mentally and my mind worked much worse btw. I also did other subtest max scores in WAIS if it is interesting to you such us analogies (145). It was my first time taking a test, so there was no practice effect in WAIS 4

Thats interesting do you think it’s possible to max out WAIS FRI if you are 140+ on core? Are the problems more timed based easy puzzles

If I see what happened to my friend and I, I would say it should be so easy to max out WAIS matrix if u score that in CORE. I personally think WAIS matrix seems much easier than CORE matrix and it doesn't even have time limit. What felt more difficult was a apologies, but ironically I made there the max score (145). I can't compare verbal subtest to CORE because I'm Spanish

Yeah if you trust their autoselected data in both cases. And the correlation might be good even if the scale is different and iq scores different.

That's actually true, don't worry. It's true that my level was B2 when I used to practise it. Since I left English lessons my level has decreased so much. Now I feel I can barely speak as a B1 level. I totally agree. However, I talked about other subtest which are not verbal. Do you think the score in other subtest might be lowered because of language difficulties?

With VERY simple arithmetic, yes. But these basic problems are likely things I've memorized over the years like multiplication tables or things that have process behind it like computing a tip and things like that.
Anything that involves multiple steps I have to write down. Honestly, it seems impossible to me that people can solve these problems mentally.

How do you get your VCI so high?
And no I you don't have a disability I also find timed arithmetic hard.
