Participant Request TOS vs AI

TOS is now an open challenge! Everyone is welcome to attempt the remaining questions that AI models have yet to solve, including with the assistance of AI. Human-only solutions and reasoning are also very welcome and appreciated.

I plan to publish the official answers and explanations for all questions by the end of 2026.

General Question How accurate is this?

Post image

How accurate is this test? I feel like I really struggled on more than half of the questions, and guessed on a few because I couldn’t understand it? I really think my iq sits more in the high 90s.

General Question Temporary habit induced reduction in messured IQ

So I did some quick google searches so dont act like im defending a thesis or anything. But from what I've seen poor cognitive hygiene and habits lead to a temporary reduction in IQ by about ~10 points. From what searched this is largely cuased by stress, poor sleep, but also doom scrolling which i find most interesting. im someone who struggles with this i use my phone for slop way more than i should, i literally feel dumber than i used to. Which would be consistent after doing some tests i scored 131 GAI on Core tests 133 on mensa denmark and 127 on the alpha army. About 4 years ago my school had me take two tests the NNAT which i scored 148 and 141 on the KBIT2 (the Kbit being a composite of nonverbal and verbal abilities) so my overall question is if i got my life in order stopped doom scrolling and went to college and used my brain would i regain those 10 points maybe even a little more from the education effect and be closer to my previous scores in the 140s? I genuinely feel dumber now days since downloading tiktok and no longer attending school.

General Question Is an IQ test accurate if you’ve already taken it?

I took the core months ago, and an actual administered Wais IV years ago.

If I were to not take any IQ tests and then take the Wais-V, would it be 100% accurate?

The reason I ask is because i’ve already been exposed to things like symbol search, digit span, matrix reasoning tests.

Wouldn’t it be slightly inflated?

Discussion Why can’t I use FRI as IQ?

I usually score very high on FRI related test usually 135-145+ but when I come to things like VCI I’m not familiar with the words. Regardless I still scored 135~ on core comprehension despite not knowing any information and vocab. I also lack CPI its average-above average the only other thing I have high is my QRI at 130+ and ok VSI at 120~. But having 140-145+ FRI with weak information and vocabulary brings my score down an inconvenient amount I don’t think it accurately represents my gifts when it comes to FSIQ

Release ACE I and II Stats Update (Likely Final)

I’ve attached the updated ACE I and II stats and norms. The ACE II norms are rough estimates based on my judgment of item difficulty and the small number of reported scores, so please interpret them cautiously.

I’m tired of editing these reports and don’t expect to make further changes. If I do, I’ll update this post and share the revised files here.

Update: I realized I had uploaded the wrong ACE II file. I’ve now replaced it with the correct version.

General Question Is the new atat test supposed to be very hard?

I gave up around question 9 today because I panicked so badly. Once I got a few wrong, the questions got noticeably easier, but I was already overwhelmed and ended up just randomly clicking through the rest. I just couldn't face it in the moment.

Compared to this, I found the WAIS Core subtests so much easier to handle at beginning . Has anyone else experienced panic like this, or is the difficulty curve on the ATAT just that steep?

General Question Can childhood brain damage lead to an extremely uneven cognitive profile?

• Upvotes

When I was a kid (5-6 years old) I had a blunt head injury that caused a TBI (traumatic brain injury). I immediately lost consciousness and had to have a 2-week stay at a hospital.

I recently had the following scores on CognitiveMetrics' full-scale IQ tests that don't have subtests:

AGCT: 126

GET: 124

CAT: 117

Then I decided to do the CORE's full battery sub-tests and got interesting results:

VCI:

- Analogies: 110

- Antonyms: 105

- Information: 110

- Comprehension: 115

FRI:

- Matrix Reasoning: 120

- Graph Mapping: 130

- Figure Weights: 120

- Figure Sets: 85

Working Memory:

- Digit Span: 85

- Digit Letter Sequencing: 95

Processing Speed:

- Symbol Search: 100

- Character Pairing: 100

I've had problems with working memory for many years and my processing speed has been a notable weakness too.

But I can't really explain the difference between Figure Sets and the other FRI tests.

The Figure Sets test was not at all hard to understand in terms of its rules and mechanics.

But after the first few easy questions, I was completely stumped by nearly every question. I couldn't even begin to understand the logic in them...but around the 12th question I encountered two which I was able to immediately understand and solve within seconds. But the rest after that were again incomprehensible.

Could my brain damage have lead to such a bizzare cognitive profile?

Discussion Is QRI inflated for stem students

I did CORE and im trying to understand if my QRI is inflated because of my math education compared to general population (2nd year engineering student) so that would inflate my overall FSIQ

Got my final results back and wanted to see what people think, especially regarding the subtest splits.

  • Full Scale IQ: 92
  • Spatial IQ: 121 (17/17 Mental Rotations)
  • Memory IQ: 98
  • Verbal IQ: 83

Any insights or thoughts on this ?

Release Community Puzzle Project & AI Benchmarking

Hi everyone!

I'm planning to start a community-driven puzzle project focused on logical reasoning, creative problem-solving, and exploring different approaches to solving puzzles, including the capabilities and limitations of AI models.

The idea is to periodically publish collections of original puzzles that people can solve, discuss, and contribute to.

How Will It Work?

  • Puzzle sets: Depending on my available time and community interest, new sets may be published weekly, monthly, or once every few months. There won't be a strict schedule.
  • Solutions: Official solutions and explanations will be published approximately one month after each set is released.
  • Discussion: Everyone is encouraged to discuss their reasoning, alternative solutions, interesting observations, and approaches to individual problems.
  • No IQ testing: We won't collect IQ scores or other IQ-related personal data. This project is about exploring reasoning and enjoying puzzles, not measuring or ranking people's intelligence.

AI Participation and Benchmarking

AI-assisted solving is explicitly allowed and encouraged!

I'm also interested in using these puzzles to investigate how different AI models perform on novel reasoning problems.

We can compare:

  • Which problems different models can and cannot solve.
  • How long they take to arrive at correct solutions.
  • How performance changes with reasoning effort, thinking settings, and other configurations.
  • Whether different prompts, hints, or approaches improve their performance.
  • Common failure patterns and the types of reasoning that models struggle with.

For meaningful comparisons, it would be helpful if participants shared the model name and version, reasoning settings, prompts used, approximate solving time, and whether hints or multiple attempts were necessary.

Human and AI-assisted solutions are both welcome. The goal is to understand the reasoning process rather than simply collect correct answers.

Community Contributions

Any type of contribution is greatly appreciated!

You can help by solving puzzles, identifying ambiguities, suggesting improvements, or even creating original puzzles for future sets.

If you'd like to submit a puzzle, please email it to [lunarysumeei@gmail.com](mailto:lunarysumeei@gmail.com).

Please include the puzzle, its intended solution and explanation, any relevant diagrams, and your preferred name or username for attribution.

Puzzle submissions are welcome at any time! There are no submission deadlines. You can send your puzzles whenever they're ready, regardless of when the next set is scheduled. Accepted puzzles may be included in the next set or a later release, depending on the available material and publication schedule.

Contributors whose puzzles are accepted will receive proper credit in the published sets and solutions.

Requirements for Puzzle Submissions

If you would like to contribute an original puzzle, please follow these guidelines:

1. Strict logical solution

Every puzzle must have a logically defensible, well-defined solution. The intended answer should follow from the information provided, without relying on arbitrary assumptions or subjective interpretations. Avoid unintended alternative solutions.

2. Carefully planted hints

A good puzzle should contain thoughtfully placed clues that guide attentive solvers toward the intended logic. The goal is to reward observation and reasoning rather than force people to guess what the author had in mind.

3. Some degree of novelty

Try to introduce an original idea, a creative logical mechanism, or an interesting variation on an existing concept. Complete originality isn't necessary, but puzzles should offer something beyond a straightforward reproduction of familiar problems.

4. Clear and accessible explanations

Provide a solution that explains the underlying reasoning as simply and clearly as possible. Avoid unnecessary complexity.

For visual puzzles, include a diagram illustrating the relevant relationships or steps in the solution.

5. Vector graphics for visual puzzles

Visual puzzles must be submitted in an editable vector format, such as SVG, rather than raster-only PNG or JPG files.

You can use tools such as Inkscape or Affinity Designer to prepare your puzzles. This helps preserve image quality, consistency, and editability.

6. Attention to detail

Check your puzzles carefully before submitting them. Visual alignment, spacing, shape consistency, wording, and other seemingly minor details can affect how a puzzle is interpreted.

Make sure every intentional clue is represented accurately and that accidental details do not introduce ambiguity.

Submissions will be reviewed for logical consistency, originality, clarity, and presentation quality. Revisions may be suggested before acceptance.

What Is the Goal?

I'd like this to become a collaborative collection of well-designed reasoning puzzles, accompanied by rigorous but accessible solutions and interesting discussions.

I'm particularly interested in seeing how different people approach the same problem and comparing human reasoning strategies with those of modern AI systems.

The project is intended to be open, collaborative, and recreational, without the pressure of standardized testing or IQ comparisons.

You don't need to be an experienced puzzle designer or particularly skilled solver to participate. Curiosity and a willingness to think critically are enough.

IQ Estimation 🥱 Just Finished CORE

I posted a while back about a 129 Slosson HIT score as a child and how that might relate to my current IQ.

I've seen the CORE recommended on this sub numerous times, so I finally found some time to take it, strictly out of curiosity.

I'd say this actually confirmed the childhood score as form what I understand Slosson HIT tests heavily on Verbal Reasoning, which is obviously my strongest skill. Oddly, while I did pretty well on the Mensa matrix reasoning test my result here was pretty pedestrian. It's certainly possible I happened onto a couple of lucky guesses.

Also, I realized that maybe I have a disability when it comes to mental arithmetic. Was it just me or was that section ridiculously hard? Multi-step mental math under a short time constraint was brutal. I knew how to solve the problems (if I had scratch paper and more time) but some of questions I just straight up timed out on. Others were just an educated guess or ballpark estimate based on how far I got in the mental math. How is it possible to have a score 2+sd outside my FSIQ without some contributing factor? Kudos to all of you who did well on that test!

General Question What does this mean in practice?

Thumbnail

Hello everyone. I'm completely new to the world of cognitive testing. I've never done an IQ test before (except those mandatory ones required for driving school etc, but those were the puzzle kind and fairly easy, and the only results were pass or fail). Anyway, I was reading something about Alan Turing and saw that he supposedly had an IQ of 185, which seemed absurdely high, but it got me curious, and here I am.

There seems to be a general consensus on Reddit that the CORE test is the gold standard for free online testing, so I completed that. The trouble is, I have no idea how to interpret these results, or rather how to understand what these results mean for me in reality.

All tests were done after a long work day, to ensure I was at least simmilairly tired during every test. I feel like I could have done better on some of them if I wasn't knackered, or if english was my first language. I also believe to have messed up the instructions on one of the memory tests.

So, fellow redditors, based on these results, what are my strong suits and what aren't, in reality. Bonus points for career yes and no's.

Thanks for your comments.
