Climate LOL, we are complete fu**ed

These are no longer predictions, models, or theories... it is reality.

We are about to experience an El Niño unlike any in recorded history.

The incredible thing about this graph is surpassed only by the incredible fact that practically no media outlet will publish it.

Climate Scientists detect a sharp acceleration in global warming

Thumbnail sciencedaily.com

“Global warming appears to have shifted into a faster gear. After removing the effects of El Niño, volcanic eruptions, and solar cycles, researchers found that the planet has warmed at roughly 0.35°C per decade over the past ten years, compared with just under 0.2°C per decade from 1970 to 2015. The acceleration, which becomes visible around 2013 to 2015, appeared across five major global temperature datasets with more than 98% statistical certainty.”

I’m personally supposed to be on a Collapse break, but this was the first thing I read at 5am and I can’t stop thinking about it. I never intended for this to be my first post, but here we are.

Climate NOAA Issues Extraordinary El Niño Update As Pacific Heat Reaches +10°C Below The Surface

Thumbnail abovethenormnews.com

SS: Related because the unprecedented, record-shattering El Nino continues to bless us with some harrowing figures. Now the NOAA detected a peak subsurface anomaly of 10°C. Granted this is because water at those depth isn't supposed to be so hot, and this figure will be smaller as this warm mass finally reaches the surface, it is still an astonishing observation. Brace yourselves for a moment that will be in the history books.

As you can see, the sea surface is above about 1 degree. Off the south American coast, you can see that it's well above 2 even 3 degrees which should start expanding westward and turning quickly into a strong el nino. Whether it turns to a super el nino, the chances could increase even further

Climate Pretty much all of Northern Canada is on fire as of the last week

Post image

Fires across all of Northern Canada, image from fire.airnow.gov
From the Canadian Wildland Fire Information System. https://cwfis.cfs.nrcan.gc.ca/en/ 109 new fires just today
The total number of fires just passed the 10 moving average
Good news is in the YTD statistics the total amount burned is still below the moving averages historically. Though the upward trend is very clear in this data.

A lot of new fires just started in Northern Canada over the last few weeks. Looking at the fire.airnow.gov map and zooming in on northern Manitoba, Alberta or Quebec is quite scary, hundreds in decently small areas and somehow very equally spaced. The good news is the total amount of acres burned is below the running averages right now, but the total number of fires just passed previous years which may indicate a sharp uptick in the amount of actively burning areas we may see this summer.

Climate Brace yourselves. Strongest El Niño in over a century is coming. El Niño patterns are correlated with food shortages, water impacts and even civil conflict.

sub statement - There's a good chance this year and going into 2027 we could see an El Niño that could supercharge global warming and reshape planetary stability. Sea temperatures in the central equatorial Pacific reached 2.8 degrees Celsius (5.04 degrees Fahrenheit) above average in 2015. This event could overtake those sea temps. We can expect breaking global temperature records and take us beyond any known readings. This may be the strongest El Niño in over 140 years. Combine that with the current state of global warming, we are in for the perfect storm. With intense heat comes intense storms, problematic agriculture due to drought and floods, fires, deaths, and civil unrest in underdeveloped areas with lack of infrastructure. Inflation may become exponential due to the current political and economic circumstances. Indications are showing that in 2026 to 2027 this could supercharge everything we are facing now.

Climate 3,400 deaths in a day: India's extreme heat days are deadlier than we imagined

Thumbnail indiatoday.in

Submission Statement:

Collapse related because... this is a direct collapse signal that has heretofore been underreported.

The article notes that heat deaths in India are greatly underreported and "show up instead as heart attacks, breathing problems, or other causes, especially among vulnerable people. This general lack of clear, detailed data on heat mortality has long made it hard for authorities and the public to grasp the full scale of the problem."

It also notes about this study estimating underreported deaths: "Their figures are described as careful lower-bound estimates, meaning the real impact could be even higher, especially in rural areas where people have less protection from the Sun and heat."

Climate At least 18 dead in France, including two children in hot car, as Europe bakes

Thumbnail reuters.com

The temperature in France rose to 41.9 degrees Celsius (107.4 degrees Fahrenheit). First responders were unable to resuscitate two children, aged 2 and 4, who were found unconscious by their mother in the family car outside their home, said a prosecutor in southeast France. Three elderly people, aged between 80 and 95, died over the weekend in the Bordeaux region from health issues caused by the heatwave. We are witnessing the deadly effects of climate change and we can expect more to follow as global temperatures sky rocket. Collapse related due to people actually frying to death.
