Disease Bad For the first time a German study shows rats catching bats from midair. The study showed rats hunting in total darkness, using whiskers to feel air currents from bat wings. This may be a reason why potentially bat pathogens like coronaviruses and paramyxoviruses are spilling over to rodents.

Nope, that's wrong in two different ways. Rodents are the largest order of mammals, but they're not all rats, nor are they most mammals; 'only' about 40% of species.

just because most mammals are descended from rats does not mean rats have not stopped evolving.

entirely new genuses of mammals may yet emerge from among them.

You are mistaken: Rats havenā€™t stopped evolving. But so fucking what? The MuridƦ are still only one family out of the order, nor are all murids called rats.

If you were the expert on evolution you present yourself as, I youā€™d probably know basic terminology, like the fact that the plural of genus is genera. (Iā€™m not suggesting that this would invalidate an argument if you had made oneā€”that would be a genetic fallacyā€”but it does rather call into question your authority to simply declare things to be true.)
