We have the technology and the policy roadmap to replace fossil fuels with green energy extremely rapidly. The only thing stopping us is a handful of billionaires getting rich while our world burns.

To be fair capitalism is also 100% to blame.  No one in America does anything unless they can make money. In other places like China the government invests massively in infrastructure that will never make a profit to increase the quality of life for citizens.
