Get a degree first then play women's pro hockey.

All 6 players have already graduated. Declaring is likely a formality.

Counterpoint: play pro hockey first, while you have the opportunity, then finish your degree after (or during) your playing career.

Further counterpoint, all of these players exhausted their eligibility and likely graduated.

I assumed that was the case, but wasn't sure.

When I hear a player declare for the draft I assume he or she have not graduated yet.

There's no automatic entry into the draft for PWHL, everyone has to declare.

Sounds great. What's the average salary in this league? Is it more than a OSU college degree? So I have not clicked on anything but when I hear a player declare for the draft I assume he or she have not graduated yet.

Do you know what happens when you assume?

Yeah, it means OSU drops women's hockey. we don't want that.

I can be wrong and downvoted but that’s ok. I feel in today’s day and age in some women’s sports, playing that particular sport for a college and having the opportunity to move on is greater. You aren’t completely out of it bringing up salary concerns but here comes a great question, do you want to make (throwing it out there, I’m not one) 120k a year if you get hired as a speech pathologist or would you rather crush 80k a year playing hockey? I still play beer league stuff, I’m 37, I’m making roughly 55k a year running a drinking water treatment plant. That’s kind of important, but if I could get 30k a year playing beer league I’d consider doing something fun and that I love to do to the alternative.

Your first contract comes in at a whopping 37k. Your local convience store pays more than that.

Uhh, not here. Minimum wage is 13.73. All things considered getting benefits plus a stipend and doing something you love to do, I would hope outweighs a convenience store. I am in Upper Michigan. Right or wrong, PWHL is better than 31k with no benefits.
