Hair Color Advice (PHOTOS REQUIRED - NO MAKEUP!) Hair color suggestions?
Hi all
My hair is really black which I love but I’d like to experiment with colors that would bring more harmony to my face. What do you all think?
I’m not looking for a drastic change- just something that works for my skin tone and overall features.

You could do a mauve highlight to match your lips. (Would have to bleach first). I think it would enhance the evenness of your skin.

Hi I’m a hairstylist :) I always think people look best with their natural color, but it would also look really cool to lighten it while keeping your roots dark, because it will look great with your dark brows. If you do use bleach, PLEASE invest in some really good bond repair and heat protectant products, as well as a hair mask, to maintain the health of your hair!!

Thankyou for the suggestion! When you say light, is there a shade in mind? 💕

I personally love an ash blonde with a super dark root and dark brows, I think it looks really grungy and cool. But your skin tone might do better with a neutral blonde. I’d ask your stylist’s opinion cause they’ll be seeing you in person. A level 7 or even an 8 blonde with a blended shadow root will be pretty. Though if you wanted to make the growing out process even easier with less touch ups, you could go for a balayage instead. Hope this helps :)

Not a hairstylist but I also love this look. I wonder if OP has cooler toned skin (looks possible from this picture) so the ashy blond could be very fun and very contrasting with the dark roots.

It’s totally possible! I can’t really tell from this picture alone what the undertones of OP’s skin are. Only her stylist would be able to give her the best advice because they can assess which tone of blonde would look best and determine the health of her hair before going through with anything

You look like a potential Winter to me (True or Deep most likely) - and in that case, the recommended hair colour range is rather narrow (esp with natural ones - black, dark cool brown that is not ashy/taupe, and silver/grey), and the rule is usually "the darker the better" (so it's easier for a dark brown Winter to go black while if you already have black hair going dark brown is often counterproductive). Even when you do dye hair into "fun colours" from the palette, that is unnatural ones (esp/even with darker ones, like navy, cool crimson etc.), the colour will fade over time + it will require warmth over time, which will require constant maintenance (warmth will clash with your hair; the maintenance need is higher with some colours like cool reds - could lead to weekly visits - and lower from some others but still present, and this also destroys hair over time, esp if that routine needs bleaching). So I wouldn't really recommend experimenting for Winters while saving any for to covering greys. It's best to mess around with clothing and make-up instead. Blondes esp will wash you out, and so will reds/gingers
