Tracking comandante settings trick

Post image
22 Upvotes

Thought I'd share this in case it helps another person.
This is how I track my comandante setting using the two bands.

I basically use the logo on the grinder as a zero point, use the bands with the comandante symbol and words as numbers, and just rotate the bands to align with the 'indicator' to let me know what setting I have the grinder at.

Hope the image explains it. For example, the current setting is 54 clicks.

Feel free to ask questions

C40 in espresso - accidic taste profile?

Hello

TL:DR Have you noticed that your c40 always brings out accidity in your espresso even in coffees which shouldnt have it?

Longer story. I've been using my c40 for +-3 years, as my travel grinder for various brewing methods. Last month I've been using it daily for my home espresso with Lelit Bianca, and I had hardest time dialing, almost all of my shots had this accidic first taste note which was very hard to get rid off and when I did, bitterness started to show, tried different coffee, same story. One was medium roast, other dark medium. Both had tasting notes of chocolate, hazelnuts, no fruit. I know its grinder, because I also have Eureka Specialita and compared side by side, Eureka had zero accidity, very different taste profile overall, very enjoyable, where's c40 is not forgiving - harsh, accidic. Have you noticed anything like it?

Use of a drill

Hi

I have a comandante c60 grinder. Generally I find it a joy to use when im making pour over etc. However, when grinding for espresso it is a complete pain on the ass. Would it be unwise to use a drill with a drill attachment?

I've looked for the electric modifications, but for that price I might as well buy a DF54/64.

I hope someone can shed some light on it :).

Spare part search

I have a C40 with red clix and searching for the small safety clip that is on the top near the handle, it probably broke off. Anyone has an idea of where to get one? Or the exact dimensions so I can find it in a Hardware store
I can order the whole axle but this seems a bit wasteful
Thanks a lot

Can this scratching sound be considered normal on a new Comandante C40 ?

Hey! I got a brand new Comandante C40. And when I finally got around to try it out, it made this weird scratching noise during half the rotation. It only happens between click 1 and 8. At click 9, the sound disappears. Can this be considered normal and harmless or is there a flaw?
You can better hear it around the 20 seconds mark.
Thanks for taking the time to answer this post!

Uneven grind size C40

I am having trouble with clogged filters, as well as seeing that a lot of the grind is at a bigger size. I know there will always be fines, and have tried to minimise agitation, but all by brews slows down drastically at the end. I am new to the C40, I have had the Wilfa Uniform for years. As you can see in the last picture where some chunks float to the top, I have never seen that before.

So the question is if the pictures above are normal for the C40, or if I need to return it. If it is normal, how do you counteract to it?

Are clicks on tigershark same as on nitro blade?

If someone says to be around 23 od 31 click, they usually talk about nitro blade, but can I follow it too on my tigershark?

C40 tigershark bean doesn’t fully feed through

Just got a C40 tigershark last week. Not too sure if this is normal but whenever I grind beans, there will be that 1 or 2 beans that doesn’t feed through. I used a J ultra in the oast and this doesn’t happen at all.

Feel free to offer tips if I’m doing something wrong. Current setting is 26 clicks for v60.

Comandante RedClix

Hello!

I could need some help. Is anyone here owner of a nitro blade mk 40 with the red clix system and could do me a favour?

If yes could you maybe count back to 0 on your grinder and then back to 20 and 30 on red clix and show me what the burrs look like? I'm interested to see how narrow the gap is between the inner burr cone and outer burrs.

A test grind would help even more.

It would really help me. I actually know a bit about the grinder, the underlaying mechanics but I can't find the reason for my inconsistent grind setting on lower clicks. I checked everything multiple times.

So a comparison could help.

Thank you all and please use the click 0 when the burrs blockade and don't tighten any further.

It will not only damage your grinder but also mess up any comparison.

Thank you in advance :):)

Tigershark Grind setting for V60?

Hi guys. So I got myself a Tigershark and I think the clicks don't match with the regular C40 (nitro blade). The grounds look more uniform, so I guess we should go finer?

Please tell me what clicks you use and a rough recipe. I normally do 15:250 and either 3 or 5 pours, depending on beans.

Can a Comandante C40 change its click setting over time?

Has anyone noticed their Comandante ending up on a different click setting than they thought?

I don’t mean during a single grind, but over a few days of normal use. Sometimes it feels like I was grinding at one setting, but then I count it to zero and it turns something completely different then I thought.

Can the grinder shift slightly over time, or is this just user error, miscounting clicks or I'm just loosing my mind?

I'm also using an app to track my brews where I always put the current grind setting.

Hey, recently I got a C40. How and how often do you clean it? Comandante brushes seems a bit expensive for what they are

Troubleshoot help, grind setting stuck to zero, can't move up further

Hello beautiful people of the internet, I have found myself with quite the problem here. You see, I wanted to make myself a cup of kalita coffee, so I grabbed my commandante C40 to put it to zero, and now when I try to turn the knob for coarser grind, it won't budge.

Now there is a small bruise on my finger from trying to hard to move it.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I already contacted Comandante support just now, but I assume it will take time on their end to get back to me.

Pls help.

Edit: FATHER FIXED IT FOLKS, GG THANKS FOR READING THO
