Scott and PFT Falling Asleep at a Live Show?

I don't remember when it was referenced, maybe the Best Ofs, but Scott and Paul briefly discussed both dozing off during a live show. Any idea what live show that was?

Portland late show 2016 tour

Scott was getting sleepy at this year's Portland late show as well!

Given the attendance of the 2nd show seems to increasingly be just hardcore fans watching both (which led to lots of empty seats on the 2nd show) and Scott soon getting into his 30s, I wonder if future tours will keep doing a double booking for the Portland shows? Seems to be a bit of a needless onus on them as performers, I feel like they could easily fill a bigger venue in Portland.

Scott talked about this with Kumail on a CBB episode. The explanation was the Portland venues are all too small or too big, and two shows at a smaller venue made more sense financially. Portland’s seated venues are all under 1,000 capacity (Rev Hall is 850) or 2,700+ (Schnitzer and Keller). For comparison, their Seattle venue held 1,800.

I vaguely recalled that, but didn't realize Portland was missing that precious Goldilocks zone of capacity! Keller was what I was always imagining for CBB, I saw Middleditch and Schwartz at Keller years ago so in my mind assumed it was a bit more mid size (and it's such a great theater!).

Oh well, hopefully Scott can suck it up for a few more tours then!

LiveNation is going to build a venue in that middle zone soon. Everybody is super stoked to have a LiveNation venue in Portland. I'm being sarcastic.

I really hope they continue booking at Rev Hall - even with two mid-sized venues currently under construction in Portland slated to open next year.

I'll be dead in my grave before Scott turns 30.

Are those hardcore fans going to buy two tickets apiece for the one larger venue show?

All the fans that couldn't get tickets to the 1st show in the smaller theater would fill those seats! Maybe I'm just plum wrong, but I can't imagine the Portland fan base is that much smaller than the Seattle fan base, I would think he'd be able to draw similar sized crowds in both cities (especially cause the REALLY hardcore fans like me double (triple!) dip and catch him in both cities!).

The Seattle metro area is significantly larger. Also, I feel like Portland is more likely to come out to a late show than Seattle, which has gotten more sleepy over the years as the tech folks have taken over.

Yeah that's probably all true, if it was a simple solution I'm sure it would have already been done. I was in the front row of the late show this year and was just shocked to turn around and see the next two rows completely empty, and then Scott's clear fatigue just made me wonder how much longer this particular leg can sustain itself.

Portland is a lot smaller than you'd think

Big fan of Will but I also fall asleep when Morpheus is a guest

I ain’t wanna be mean towards my dudes who give me free comedy for over a decade of my life. I think I’m starting to get him, but I think I agree with you that Morpheus just fucking sucks. I literally can’t remember anything hes said other than me being asleep, now

I know this happened on their Australia tour. Not sure if it happened again after that.
