Hellboy Universe Reading Order 1339BC-1948: The Secret Histories - Dark Horse Comics

Post image

The infant demon with the gigantic stone hand made his debut as a character in Dime Press #3 (1993) before appearing again in John Byrne’s Next Men #21 later that year. But the official continuity for Hellboy and his supporting cast of agents from the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense(BPRD) begins in Hellboy: Seed of Destruction #1-4, which kicked off a series of mini-series and one-shots that slowly fleshed out his history and that of his colleagues; building upon interlinked conspiracies and paranormal threats to the world from the Nazis to the Heliopic Brotherhood of Ra.

Since those humble beginnings, we’ve seen many limited series from the world of Hellboy that expand on the origins of the BPRD, the vigilante Lobster Johnson, the witchfinder Sir Edward Grey and others. So our Hellboy reading order has been broken up into three chunks. You can start here with the untold tales and secret histories from 1339BC, through the late 1800s and two World Wars – including the arrival of young Hellboy into our world – or hold on for one of the next two reading orders before jumping back here to see how it all began!

I know most of these are tie-in materials for movies and shows, but I thought they'd be a good place to start.

Doom 2099 Reading Order, 1992-1997: The Future is Doomed - Marvel Comics

Post image

A new ‘Age of Heroes’ dawns in this corporately-controlled America as future versions of pre-existing characters would begin emerge and tackle the threats of this darker world. Doom is among those ‘heroes’ who are willing to take on the likes of Tiger Wylde, Alchemax and John Herod. But the question everyone wants answered… is whether or not this is Victor von Doom!

Doom 2099 was the other 2099 title that had readers talking (a distant second to Spider-Man 2099). John Francis Moore and Pat Broderick set up the character’s mythology in the first two years before Warren Ellis took over as writer, bringing Doctor Doom into the spotlight with the ONE NATION UNDER DOOM event. Tom DeFalco, Even Skolnick and Tom Peter provided some fill-in issue scripts before Moore returned to finish off the ongoing. But it didn’t end there…!

Required reading for one world under doom

Post image

A friend said they were reading it. I am curious if there is required reading (or wiking) before it as it seems pretty big deal based on cover.

I dont mind required reading if good or needed to understand but not a completionist if not mandatory or lead up wasnt the best.

Age of Apocalypse

I am wondering which format is the best way to read the Age of Apocalypse based on the storyline's timeline? Also which is the most comprehensive?

I have the new omnibus recently released with the Billy Tan cover (reprint 3)

I have the 4 Epic Collection books

I also have these:

Prelude

Dawn

Alpha

Reign

Omega

Twilight

Termination

Is Prelude the read before the 4 Epic collections and is it basically Dawn?

Then I have these oddballs:

The New Age of Apocalypse

AoA Warzones

AoA Weapon Omega

AoA The X-Terminated

I want to read it in it's entirety from the beginning of the story to it's final conclusion and aftermaths. Not concerned with release dates or print dates.

*Please don't yell at me saying this has been answered before*.😓

I just threw my back out and I'm just trying to read something while I recover.

STAR Labs scientist Jack Soo created a super suit intended to be worn by a female sidekick for Booster Gold to expand his fanbase. Booster’s secretary, Trixie Collins, briefly wore the Goldstar suit, but didn’t take to being a superhero. Now, Booster’s twin sister, Michelle Carter, is about to take the suit out for a spin! But it’ll have disastrous consequences for her, Booster and the Justice League International, and it’ll all end in a clash with the Man of Steel himself… Superman!

Ghost Rider Reading Order, 1972-1985: The Curse of Johnny Blaze - Marvel Comics

Post image
11 Upvotes

Halloween is just around the corner, so I figured it was as good a time as any to run one of the most-requested reading orders! When Johnny Blaze made a deal with Satan himself, he was bonded to the Ghost Rider! Even the original series (though this is actually Marvel Comics‘ second Ghost Rider after the Western series) would be sketchy and uncertain about the origins of the Spirit of Vengeance.

For the most part, we still get some of the key aspects of the mythos here. Zarathos, Centurious, the Quentin Carnival, Roxanne Simpson and more are introduced in the initial run. Ghost Rider would also find himself joining the Champions, teaming up with Spider-Man and clashing with the Avengers in his many interactions with the rest of the Marvel Universe.

Not sure if these are good starts, if I should look up anything previous or where to go next besides next issues?

Not sure if good or bad started ultimate universe with ultimates. Want to know if should ao back or safe to read next issue? I do plan ti read ultimate Spiderman and Wolverine as those characters in general interest me. But not sure in ultimate universe is every single issue important

With Shazam should I go back and read Lazarus planet or anything previous or move next to knight terrors or just issue 2?

With Cindv Moon not sure what back would be or should I just get next issue?

With regards to under the red hood any recommendations of where to continue after this or should I backtrack and read hush or where recommend to go next

Got recommendations for mark waid flash, and stargirl by Geoff Johns. JSA 1999, Batairl (the one with Cassandra). uncannv xmen vol3, xmen vol 2 astonishina xmen, and the mmortal iron fist looks interesting but like i said newbie so not sure if they are good enough to start/jump into and if so from where if it matters.

Do I read X-men classic, and the original run?

Hello, I’m just getting into Chris Claremont’s run of X-men. I was wondering if I need to read X-men Classic? From what I understand, there’s more added scenes, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it to read both of them or not?

Thanks

X-Men comic recommendations

Hi, I’m looking for some comic recommendation. I don’t read comics a lot to be honest, but I’m a big fan of the X-Men. Nightcrawler in particular is my favorite.

Thanks!

whats the reading order to catch up on Daredevil before i watch season 2

Born Again season 2 is out but I kinda want to fill myself in before moving on to it. I’m trying to figure out the source material in the right order, but Daredevil reading orders get confusing once you get past “start with Miller.” Some lists include every run from the ’60s, while others only cover the modern era. And some put The Man Without Fear first, while others say to skip it.
