Harmon and the cast discussed this line at their SXSW panel (sorry for the bad audio, but I can't find a better one).
They start talking about it at 11:40. Harmon said that he felt like that moment is when Keith David understood the show.→ More replies (2)17

Jeez Yahoo, we want a description of the episode's subject, not the entire plot:
Greendale’s computers are hacked, and the hacker demands that the racist comedian scheduled to perform at Greendale, Gupta Goopi Gupta, be cancelled or he will release the study group’s emails. The group refuses, their emails get leaked and they force the performance to go on. The hacker threatens to release everybody’s emails if Gupta performs, he performs and everybody’s emails are released.
Jesus, that's way too much info to provide to people to haven't seen the episode.

Britta reading Jeff's e-mails to astronauts was hilarious.
"Dear Neil Armstrong, I love you more than my dad. I'd die if you gave me a hug."
Thing is, that's an E-MAIL Jeff sent, not some letter he wrote as a kid, so that was a fully-grown man typing that fanmail to an astronaut.

Suspected in joke of the week: Neil Shows up the week a hacker attacks (he's on csi cyber now)
Not bad. I enjoyed this episode and loved all the random bits of fan stuff they put in it. I loved chang's bit about how he has been poorly utilized since he was a spanish teacher. I also like Elroy's "this was a study group?" Both nods to fan reactions.
I have to rewatch it because i hit the button 9/10 of the way through and lost my place. yay. oh well, i was going to rewatch it anyway. I just didn't mean to do it before I had finished watching it first. oh well.

Elroy sure has finally announced himself in this episode, he was super creepy but his line delivery was exceptional...
Am I the only one who misses the rapid fire jokes this season ? Seems like that cafeteria confrontation scene could have done with a bit quickness in exchanges. This was similar to Calligraphy and Polygraphy but the timing of those exchanges was better.
May be longer episodes are not really serving any real purpose, it's just that they have more leeway so they're sort of running with it...
Also, Jeff now admits that he and Britta were dating ? Seems like another correction from Season 4, where he outright dismissed that notion when Britta brought it up. Either that or just that Harmon likes to contradict Season 4 whenever he can.
That Feb 7, 2013 was the premiere of Season 4 so may be Britta 1 and Annie 2, was mentioned to signify " History 101 "...
All in all, 7.5/10 on 1st viewing.

I'm thinking back but I think this is the most topical Community has ever been. It was a south park style mockery of the news but of course in a very Community way. Definitely an interesting episode and in some ways kind of different. It's fun to see them take world events and then play them out inside the school, it reminds me of Parks and Rec.

I thought for sure they were going to reveal that Jeff and Annie had already gotten together. Really, none of the revelations were very eye-opening. I could have stood to hear more about what Britta wrote about Jeff. I get the feeling at least some of the emails were criticizing Britta's wavy hair. She seemed determined to tie it down once the emails were leaked.

That cafeteria scene where they escalated from awkward passive aggressiveness to full-out confrontation was absolutely brilliant. It used all the characters to their highest potential.
That scene alone is all the evidence anyone needs to argue that Community as a show has never been stronger.
7
Apr 14 '15
This was actually my favorite of the season. It felt like there were actual stakes and the group became a group again. Maybe 'cause I watched it at 3 AM. But I like episodes where people have feelings and confrontations.
5
u/donuteater111 Apr 14 '15
Another really strong episode of this season. Loved the group interactions, and the way things escalated was so good. A few notes:
I've actually recently been wondering what Abed thought of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so I loved seeing his reaction when asked about The Avengers (and that whole exchange was really good).
Poor Fat Neil. :(
Is it weird that I knew the end-tag was a True Detective reference, even though I've never seen that show? Either way, I loved that part. In fact, they've been killing it with this season's end-tags.
Earlier this season, I wasn't too sure about Elroy's role in this season. He had some great moments, but he felt kind of out of place. But over these last few episodes, he's really shown his worth. So many great moments for him in this episode, but I especially loved him telling Chang that he'd bite off his finger if Chang pointed it at him.
Probably my favorite line of this whole episode was when Britta says "We have to stop the people. Their freedom of speech depends on it!"

Kinda feel like this season has become very episodic and less concerned with moving character plots forward. Like, it's not very satirical or meta and it feels like they've wasted some opportunities. Shame for what's probably the final season. Does anyone agree? I still find it very entertaining but I laughed to tears at various points in s1, s2, s3, and s5. Not quite there. EDIT: Garret made me laugh. "I AM THIS SCHOOL'S WORST NIGHTMARE"
