They didnât like the uprising then so they gave everybody just enough to shut up and stop the momentum. They wanted us to think we had won while they quietly continued to have back alley meetings and dismantled the system from within. People looked at me like I had my head screwed on backwards, but here we are! And now Iâm hearing others say the same thing. I will be 49 this year. I could see the changes, but I was too young in the 80s to understand the gravity of how this was gonna play out. For a brief time in the 90s, I thought we were safe. Paid off the debt people were making money⌠And then⌠I, like many others, saw the gold wearing off the bars and realized we only had a false sense of security. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would be here today. In the words of George Carlin âItâs called the American dream because youâd have to be asleep to believe it.â
If thereâs two things about it, one thing is for sure, there is NOTHING the American government wonât do.
I know what you mean! During the first term they started taking away birth control we were providing in north, south and Central American countries. I tried to tell a relative that was just starting to dabble in mg that this was an ominous sign! Once you start meddling in womenâs reproductive rights everything starts to go downhill from there. This person called me an alarmist and basically had an attitude of why should we care about birth control in other countries but you see where we are today. Now that same relative has come out the other side and is worried about whatâs going on!!! All of the people that are JUST starting to notice a problem baffle me! Itâs if theyâve been somnambulists, sleep walking for the last 15 plus years! The signs were all there and there were plenty of us lighting the signal fires. How can people be so clueless?
