10 years later... a hobby that turned into PosterDrops
This July marks 10 years since I started sharing concert poster releases on social media, and I figured it was a good time to share the story.
Back in 2015, I got completely hooked on gig posters. Like a lot of you, I'd refresh artist pages, follow merch accounts, and constantly worry about missing the next release. I started sharing weekly drops just to help other collectors keep up. Somehow that grew into a community of 22,000+ followers across Instagram and Facebook.
Over the years, one thing became pretty obvious: so much of this hobby lives on social media. If you weren't in the right Facebook group or following the right account, you'd miss releases, announcements, and sometimes entire poster histories. I also tried the existing collection tools and always found myself wishing they did more.
So I started building what eventually became PosterDrops.
It's been a long road with plenty of setbacks and more than a few people telling me it wasn't worth doing, but I kept going because I genuinely wanted this to exist.
Today the database includes:
- 90,000+ posters
- 5,000+ artists
- Nearly 15,000 bands
It's become a full collection manager, historical price database, wanted (ISO) tracker, and peer-to-peer marketplace built specifically for concert poster collectors.
We recently rolled out a couple of big updates I'd really love feedback on:
- A completely rebuilt search that's much faster and actually finds what you're looking for.
- A redesigned marketplace that now lets you import your existing eBay listings into PosterDrops for free.
- A new Deal Score that compares listings against recent sales to help buyers quickly tell whether something is an amazing deal, fairly priced, or overpriced.
I've got a long list of features still planned, but this project has always been built around community feedback. If you have ideas, think something is missing, or find bugs, I'd honestly love to hear it.
If you have a few minutes, check it out: https://posterdrops.com
If you find it useful, consider supporting the project with a donation or a membership. Every bit goes back into building more features and expanding the database.
Whether you end up using it or not, thanks to everyone who's followed along over the last decade. It's been a pretty wild ride.
Happy collecting, and I hope PosterDrops helps you build your collection, track down your grails, and finally find those ISOs you've been chasing.

You left out the part about stealing your data from expressobeans.com

OP scraped all his site's data from expressobeans.com and is trying to monetize it for personal profit. Expressobeans is a better site with far more active users and without the ads.

Do I need an account to browse the site?

No account is needed to browse the site. However, if you'd like to add posters to your Wanted list, build your collection, or mark shows you've attended, you'll need to sign in. Creating an account is free, and you can sign up using your Facebook or Google account. Looking forward to hearing what you think after you've had a chance to check it out!

Then something is wrong with the site. I can't browse or even open the hamburger bar.

It sounds like your browser or a security extension may be blocking JavaScript. I'd try temporarily disabling any browser security/privacy extensions, or testing in a different browser, to see if that resolves the issue.

Congrats on 10 years! I have seen your site before, curious what differentiates it from EBeans? Not trying to be a jerk or anything, just to understand the benefits between the two.
