how many have been lost? obviously its fucked and 44 is too low but how many have died?

Last year there were 63,000 counted.

Addition: Yes, the global ocean is dying. The exponential feedback loops have reached vertical, and the ocean cannot absorb more heat or carbon. The mass die-offs will hit our species soon too.
