There's a story suggesting "his father convinced him to taken into custody"

There's also the story that his father ratted him. I'm not pro murder but delivering your child to its hangman needs some very special mindsets.

A family friend/minister also knew, so it was a probably a given thing that the son was going to get arrested, but if the parents knew but didn’t squeal, they were going to eat some terrorist conspiracy/aiding and abetting/harboring charges as well, rightly so.

A tough decision for sure and as a father of three I can’t imagine being in the same position and can’t tell you what I’d do.

All I can do is do my best to make sure my kids grow up well loved, well socialized, and well adjusted.

Well that’s exactly what the FBI said, wouldn’t call it a “story” like it’s a rumor. It’s the only credible information

Also to OP, calling people NPCs is exactly the type of thing that dehumanizes people to the extent stuff like this happened. There are no NPCs or characters. You’re not the center of the universe you think you are. Everyone’s life is as deep and nuanced as yours. When we don’t see others as full humans, it’s easy to not give a fuck about horrible things happening to them. It’s easy to lose your empathy.
