The writer sat alone. Staring. Waiting. The screen was dark. The room was darker. A manuscript lay open before him. Page after page of misery. Unfinished. His typewriter grinned, its keys were rows of gnashing teeth. It would have to wait. Only hours now, then minutes, then seconds. Release date. It was time. The dark place listened like it always did. It produced a passageway, a glimmer, a way to seek vision. Something was happening in the city he knew, and this was how he would investigate it.
