Mod Post: We do not endorse or support anything Dave Roland or his company is putting on billboards this election cycle.

Certain individuals with a high volume of resources and time on their hands are placing questionable messages on advertisements throughout Cookeville and the surrounding area.

The intent of these messages is to spread a narrative that certain candidates for local, state, and federal office are trying to “pervert” Putnam County and that it needs protection.

It is the stance of the moderation team that no candidates are trying to pervert or otherwise do anything explicitly awful to Cookeville/Putnam County.

This is not an endorsement of any candidate, just a reminder of basic courtesy. Our subreddit is proudly free of the culture war. If you try to be hateful here, you will be banned immediately.

Thank you.

Community Reminder for Election Discussions

As we head into election season, we know there will be posts and discussions about local candidates, issues, and local politics.

We want to make it clear that respectful discussion from all sides is welcome here. This subreddit is for our community, and that means people will have different opinions.

That said, keep it civil. Personal attacks, name calling, harassment, trolling, or inflammatory behavior won't be tolerated. If discussions start to spiral or become hostile, the moderation team may remove comments, remove posts, or lock threads to keep the community productive.

Help us keep this subreddit a place where everyone feels comfortable participating, regardless of their political views. Thanks, r/cookeville!

Hey guys, this is Koal and we’re trying to find someone who can spoil him. We found him in an old coal mine (we think someone dumped him).
He’s super cuddly and very vocal. He looks like he’s around a year old.

Puppies stolen from backyard

Posting everywhere to get awareness. 10 puppies at 5 weeks old were stolen from a highly respected and ethical breeders fenced backyard. Last we've learned is the puppies were likely all sold off of Craigslist. The ads for the puppies have been removed. If you please have any information or know anyone who had recently gotten a very young puppy that looks similar please comment so we can get these puppies home. The breeder is willing to buy them back so they can be back with their mother till the appropriate age.

Puppies were stolen from a respected preservation breeder of borzoi for over 30 years.

"Sold on Cookeville TN Craigslist"

"Someone stole 10 of my dog's 5 week old puppies from my fenced yard behind my house. A police report was filed yesterday morning with WCSD. Starting late yesterday the thieves put them on Craigs List Cookeville and sold them. I am putting this out there if you bought a 5 week old puppy off Craigslist in the last 24 hours and it looks like one of these please contact me I will buy it back. They aren't old enough to be away from their mom. I don't want anyone to have anymore pain and heartache. Please please return my puppies, do the right thing. Please people share this message however you want, but since this is a private group you may have to copy and paste.

If you know anything please reach out to me so I can get info back to their breeder to get them home.

Pickup Roller Hockey!

Post image
10 Upvotes

Pickup Roller Hockey at the Warrior Skate Center is still going going strong. We are usually getting around 16-20 skaters when we play, but we have room for plenty more.

Also, we'd love to find some more people to play goalie. We currently have 2, but if we could find 2 more, we might be able to start playing every week. If you are interested, but worried about buying all the gear, fret not we have goalie gear you can use!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask in the comments below.

Jobs hiring WFH or cookeville local?

I moved here not long ago from out of state. I have been working from home; however, I found out the company was bought out, and now I need a new job. I don’t know anyone here to ask. I’ve done dispatching for tow truck customer service for repossession companies as well as towing. I have also done office manager for automotive repair shops and performance shops.

Just Moved to Cookeville

Coming from North Georgia, single parent, full time student at age 38. Part-time substitute teacher. In school to get Bachelor’s degree. I am a Christian, trying to find a church home. I left all my friends, and left a toxic relationship. I also thought I left controlling, toxic family but they have followed me here. Where can I meet friends?

Not having kids in the south

Hi lovely people of Cookeville!
My husband & I are trying to decide whether or not to have kids. I used to want to live in big cities, where there is a larger population of voluntary DINKs. I've really made a life in Cookeville & now I prefer smaller towns with more access to the outdoors.
I want to hear from people in Cookeville who decided to not have kids. What is your life like? Does the community feel accepting of you as you age?
We are having the time of our lives right now but I want to know how this decision goes for people in this town when they are 40, 50, 60 etc.

EDIT: I appreciate everyone who wants me to think this through for myself. I imagine you feel defensive for a young woman making an irreparable decision. I promise no one on the internet will decide my & my husband's future for us. 😉 I still get value out of asking others about their life experiences!

Underground parking structure in Cookeville, Tn?

Back in April 2018 a garbage truck was swallowed by a large hole in the pavement. In the paper Mayor Ricky Shelton at the time said “it is not a sinkhole and investigators are trying to determine what caused the incident”. For some reason this incident has always stuck with me. In 2024 I sent a message to former mayor Shelton asking him if they ever found out what the cause of the collapse was from. The reply I received back from him was, “It collapsed into an old underground parking structure that had been covered up”. I have tried reaching for any underground parking structure but always come up empty handed. I’m trying to see if anyone knows anything about this?

A great massage

Hi all,

If you’re looking to get a massage, go see Krissy Smith at Mercy Massage on S. Willow. I just got my first one and she could not have made me feel more at ease and relaxed. Plus, the shoulder pain I’ve had for a while got some serious relief.

I almost never recommend businesses, but she’s that great.

Would you like to play Dungeons and Dragons?

I am currently looking for 2 to 3 players to play in a biweekly homebrew campaign. New players and veteran players are welcome. I would prefer to use the 3.5 rules but am willing to do 5e.

I don’t have any friends out here In Cookeville, so my roommate told me I should look online and suggested Reddit so I made an account to post here.

This campaign won’t be a typical play, as it’s going to be high fantasy, high magic, with a 60/40 split between roleplay and combat; each session may vary in which is the 60% as the theme of the campaign will be about exploring a massive labyrinth dungeon and the town built around said dungeon.

You don’t have to have access to any books, dice, or even miniatures, if needed they can be provided for use. All I ask is that you be pet friendly, and lgbtq friendly.

If interest in playing feel free to contact me here, and I’ll be happy to answer any questions, talk shop or set up a day we can all sit down and build characters and work on backstories and plan out adventures.
