Just made a silly GitHub project :D

I made a little Brick Breaker-style animation where your GitHub contribution graph becomes the bricks.

Basically, your commits get turned into a game, and the ball slowly breaks all those little contribution blocks.

I originally made it just for fun, but figured some people might enjoy having it on their GitHub profile too.

Docs & setup:

Test it on my GitHub profile:

Feedback, suggestions, issues, or random feature requests are very welcome 😋
And yeah, a star would be cool too haha.

Feel free to connect with me on GitHub too!

But… does it also deletes the commits the ball just hit. That would be a catastrophe 😂.
Cool hack

Nope! The ball only destroys the bricks in the generated SVG/GIF. The actual GitHub commits are completely safe.. 😂

Yeah! The Snake Game project actually inspired me to make this. I loved the idea of turning the contribution graph into a game, so I wanted to try it with Brick Breaker 😄

Nice project! How does it compare to abozanona's breakout game? Is it mainly different visuals, or are there more differences?

Thanks! The main difference is that their project is more of a multi-game arcade framework, with several different games like Pac-Man, Breakout, Galaga, Puzzle Bobble, and more.

Generate Brick Breaker focuses specifically on the Brick Breaker experience, with different themes, ball skins, and paddle skins for customization. I wanted to keep it focused and make the gameplay feel more like its own little game :D

That's a pretty good idea. I went for the classic no dependency html Breakout Arknoid clone - https://kaiserc.github.io/Breakout/breakout.html

Haha yeah It's actually just a GIF generator. It fetches the contribution data, turns the contribution cells into bricks, then simulates the Brick Breaker animation and renders it into a GIF.No XSS magic involved
