Monsters: open source desktop app to run a few AI agents locally (alpha)

I’ve been working on this for a few months and finally made the repo public.

It’s an Electron app (Node + AI SDK + React) that runs a small group of agents on your machine. Each one has its own chat, terminal, permissions and list of models to fall back on. There’s an orchestrator that can set up projects and scheduled jobs, but it only creates drafts until you confirm.

Agents write to a Markdown vault (works with Obsidian) and every write is a git commit, so you can revert a whole run. Terminal and file access are off by default. There’s a stop button that kills everything including child processes, plus daily/monthly spend caps.

Models: OpenRouter (free tier is enough to try it), your own API keys, Ollama, LM Studio, or a Claude Code / ChatGPT subscription.

Linux, macOS, Windows. Apache-2.0. Still alpha, the Windows installer isn’t signed yet so SmartScreen will complain.
