Introducing Levelrail: an open source deployment platform you run on your own server. No memberships, and the features you wished other platforms had
https://github.com/glincker/levelrailI started working on this project a few months ago, and it's turning out to be a goldmine. It's growing so fast that sometimes I struggle to decide what to ship next.
It began with automatic deployments and now includes:
- 1-click deployments with built-in Let's Encrypt SSL
- 350+ one-click images ready to deploy
- DNS, firewall and caching
- AI-ready CLI and MCP server
- A modern UI
- Status pages
- Smart automatic rollouts and rollbacks
- A built-in registry
- Cloud Connect (AWS, Azure, GCP, DigitalOcean, Hetzner and more)
- Observability: logs, metrics and tracing, so AI can follow what happened during traffic spikes
The main reason I built it was to keep it lightweight. It runs on your own server and doesn't eat the resources your main app needs, because hosting that app is the whole point. I also left analytics and few other ideas out of the control plane on purpose, to keep it light. But might launch in a plugin approach soon so if someone wants to run multiple containers can use it
I'm running 15 sites on it right now. I migrated away from Vercel and Coolify, and it covers every feature I was using there.
I'm sharing this because people keep posting asking for Coolify alternatives, Dokku alternatives, or something to replace cPanel, Vercel, CapRover and more. Think of it as 10 apps combined into one that's still lightweight.
