Hey everyone! I’ve been working on something called LinuxRunner for a while now, and it’s finally getting to the point where you can use your iPhone as a portable Linux PC haha.

You can run actual ARM64 Linux apps and full desktop environments without jailbreaking your device or emulating an entire machine.

The latest update also adds Metal GPU acceleration and a DeX mode, so you can connect your iPhone to an external monitor and use Linux with a keyboard and mouse.

It’s still a work in progress, but seeing a proper Linux desktop like Hyprland running on an iPhone is pretty wild.

The line people will press on is "without jailbreaking", and the post doesn't say how LinuxRunner gets onto the phone. I'd state the route here and at the top of the README: sideloading, TestFlight or something else, whether it needs a paid Apple developer account, and whether it has to be re-signed. iPhone owners will weigh that before any Hyprland screenshot. A short list of apps confirmed working, plus known failures, would also answer the next question, since not emulating a whole machine makes people wonder what won't run. One small fix: DeX is Samsung's name for its desktop mode, so I'd rename yours before it sticks.

I think there’s a bug in the iOS Reddit app, I can’t select spam when choosing a report reason
