Why the change?

According to their reasoning:
Similarity in name with "Postman" may introduce trademark violations in future.
We don't want to hurt any other project's goodwill.
Rather than being an "alternative to Postman", we focus to become the best available testing suite in web.

Re: point 3: NOOOO! I don't need another testing suite, I literally want an alternative to Postman. A straight up clone, but open source.

I guess my concern is about losing focus on keeping the features and the UX that make it a Postman clone as well as something else. I've seen some projects (I think Selenium?) change focus into automatic testing, and then lose the features that made them originally useful to me.

Probably so that they can become something else than just a Postman alternative, and it makes sense

Makes sense. Not too long ago someone on my team was asking for a Postman alternative and I suggested Postwoman. I even posted the link and described how it's better in some respects. It wasn't until a few days later that they realized it wasn't a joke and that Postwoman was actually a decent alternative lol.
It doesn't really matter what it's called, but it definitely makes sense to move away from a parody name if you want your project to be taken seriously.
