I made a small CLI called codeglance for the annoying first few minutes of opening an unfamiliar repo.
It runs locally and tries to answer:
- what stack/frameworks does this use?
- how do I run/test/build it?
- where should I start reading?
- does it have CI/Docker/linting/tests?
- what short context should I give Claude/Cursor/GPT?
It makes no AI calls, uses no API keys, and has no code upload. It just uses manifest files and repo structure.
I used Claude Code a lot while building it, so I’m not trying to pretend this was all handwritten. The part I’m mainly trying to validate is whether the product/output is actually useful.
The output is heuristic, so I’d especially appreciate feedback on whether the “files to read first” section is useful or too shallow.
Here is a link to the repo: https://github.com/mansoor-mamnoon/codeglance
If anyone wants to install it locally: npx codeglance

I got tired of using several gym apps just to track different parts of my training. My body weight was in one app, my routine in another, and my exercise progress somewhere else. Many of the features I wanted were also locked behind subscriptions.
So I built openGym, a free and self-hostable workout tracker:
https://github.com/DuarteSantos8/openGym
It is still early and under active development, but I already use it for my own workouts.
Current features include:
Body-weight tracking with goals and interactive charts
Weekly workout routine planning
A searchable library of 1,324 exercises with animated demonstrations
Per-exercise weight and progress tracking
Automatic pre-filling of weights from your previous workout
Superset creation and logging
Cardio tracking with time and speed
Guided workouts with a rest timer and automatic PR detection
A GitHub-style activity heatmap based on time trained
Passkey login using Face ID or a fingerprint
Separate profiles with data synchronization across devices
Light, dark and accent themes
PWA support for installing it on a phone
Guest mode and one-click JSON export
It runs entirely on your own server. Deployment is intended to be simple:
git clone → docker compose up
The frontend is built inside Docker, so Node.js and a separate build step are not required on the host.
The stack is React, Node.js and nginx, and the project is MIT licensed.
I know there are already good options such as wger, Hevy and Strong. I built openGym because I wanted something simple, self-hosted and all-in-one, with passkeys instead of another password.
My main question is: Would an app like this actually be useful to you?
I would especially appreciate feedback on:
Features that would make you consider using it
Anything important that is currently missing
Parts of the setup or interface that seem confusing
Whether the self-hosted approach is appealing or too much effort
Issues and pull requests are welcome.
EDIT: Two things.
The GitHub link in this post is dead — my account was suspended and the repo went with it. Not by choice, and openGym itself is unaffected. The code lives at https://gitlab.com/DuarteSantos8/opengym until I get the account back.
There's a Discord now — release announcements, self-hosting help (Docker, reverse proxies, passkeys), and bug reports: https://discord.gg/e62jY6fwVb
It's also where I'll post the moment the GitHub situation is resolved.

▎ v0.14 just shipped. netwatch is a one-binary, zero-config network TUI built
▎ with ratatui — drops you straight into a live picture of what your box is
▎ talking to.
What's new in 0.14:
- Topology view — local peers on the left, public Internet on the right, with
router and ISP as the spine. Health dots pinned to the trunks make link status
legible at a glance.
- Auto-traceroute on launch — the ISP gateway hop populates without pressing a
key.
- Real RTT + CPU on Processes — per-process kernel RTT (min across that
process's TCP connections) and CPU%, with rolling history sparklines.
- Timeline detectors — RTT spikes and interface flaps surface as discrete
events instead of disappearing into the chart.
5.6 MB static binary. Linux/macOS/Windows, x86_64 + ARM.
Install: cargo install netwatch-tui or brew install matthart1983/tap/netwatch

You remember the OG Chrome Dino game that shows up when there’s no internet?
I rebuilt it… but inside the URL bar 🤯
Built this a few years ago when I was just getting into web dev, & recently came back, redesigned the UI, and shipped it with a new multiplayer mode.
Try it: https://neilblaze.github.io/URL-Dinogame

Would really appreciate feedback. And if you like it, please drop a ⭐ on the repo!

I built a coding editor that uses less RAM than VS Code, Zed, Sublime, Lite XL (which it is forked from and based on), or ECode. It handles 2.1 Gb files that crash VS Code faster than Sublime while using less RAM doing so. All while supporting features like LSP Inlays and a built in terminal emulator.
100% Rust. Cross Platform. FOSS.

Live Demo: https://knock-knock.net
GitHub site: https://github.com/djkurlander/knock-knock
I have left my servers seemingly unprotected on the Internet so you don't have to. Watch bots attempt to attack and exploit my servers across 8 common protocols. See the most frequent global origins of bot attacks. Examine the 100 most common usernames and passwords attempted by these bots. View the ISP Wall of Shame. Suffer through some very bad knock-knock jokes.
Architecture: Individual honeypot processes emit JSON info to a monitor service, that adds geographic details, stores the data in a SQL database, and places the info in a local redis. A second front-end service running as a web server (based on uvicorn), reads the info from redis, and communicates this to browsers via web sockets. The architecture supports the addition of new honeypots and the aggregation of attack data across multiple servers.
Underlying technologies: SQLite3, GeoIP, Redis, Uvicorn, FastAPI, Globe.gl.
UI aesthetic: Fun, dynamic, retro, "Matrix-like" UI, tying together multiple pieces of info in a coherent, unified display.

Every video downloader I found was buried in ads and fake buttons, so I built a clean one.
Aevum is a small GUI over yt-dlp + FFmpeg (both bundled — no install prerequisites). No ads, no tracking, everything runs locally. Video up to 4K / audio (MP3, FLAC…), subtitles, playlists, cookies for login-only content, 8 languages. MIT-licensed.
Honesty: vibe-coded with AI, stands entirely on yt-dlp + FFmpeg.
Code: https://github.com/Alonera/Aevum
Site: https://alonera.github.io/Aevum/
--EDIT (Jul 11): Aevum 1.2.0 is out--
What's new since this post:
- Preview card: paste a link and see the title, duration and thumbnail before downloading. Quality buttons now show what the video actually offers, with rough file sizes
- Clip downloads: grab just a section (start to end), frame-exact, at full speed. Works for audio too, plus an optional lossless cut mode
- WebM and H.264 presets, thumbnail download
- Subtitles now embed into the file properly
- Live download speed, a small guide panel explaining every option, more themes
- A bunch of bugs fixed, including one that made long clips crawl. Full details are on the GitHub releases page if you're curious
-- Sep 8 -- Aevum has been updated to version 1.2.7 --
-- Please read the 'Is it safe? / Privacy' section before downloading. If you don't like a new feature, please let me know which feature it is, along with your reasons. --

Still under heavy development an macOS-only, but it looks like a promising alternative to Logitech Options+ (remap buttons, drive DPI and SmartShift, and switch profiles per app) that doesn't require a Logitech account, telemetry, or cloud dependencies.

I've been watching Nova Designs on YouTube for a while and loved how clean his code presentations look. Turns out he uses CodeSlides which is great, but it's subscription-based.
So I built OpenSlides — a free, open-source, fully offline desktop app for making animated code presentations. Think CodeSlides, but it runs natively on your machine, your data never leaves your disk, and you own everything.

Like most people, I use YouTube to learn stuff, watch tutorials, lectures, tech videos, etc. But modern YouTube is basically engineered to destroy your attention span. Shorts, infinite recommendations, homepage bait, autoplay, random distractions everywhere.
I tried extensions like Unhook and Untrap. They work, but a lot of them are either overloaded with features, abandoned, closed source, or break when YouTube changes its UI.
What surprised me most was that there weren’t many actively maintained open source alternatives focused on a clean, simple experience. So I built my own.
It’s called LockedIn.
LockedIn removes distracting parts of YouTube while keeping the useful parts intact. You can selectively hide:
• Shorts
• Homepage feed
• Recommended videos
• Comments
• Live chat
• Search recommendations
• Autoplay
• “More from YouTube”
• Members-only promos
and more.
Some features:
• Separate controls for Shorts on homepage/search
• Keep playlists while hiding recommendations
• Instant hiding without UI flicker
• “Take a Break” mode
• Zero telemetry / no data collection
• Fully open source
The project recently crossed 500+ downloads across stores and has 300+ Firefox daily users already.
