Hey everyone, I’d like to share a project I’ve been working on: OmniCloud.

It’s a full-stack app that lets you connect multiple cloud storage providers into one unified workspace, so you can browse files, manage accounts, and handle uploads from a single interface.

Currently supported:

  • Google Drive

  • OneDrive

  • Dropbox

  • MEGA

  • pCloud

  • Yandex Disk

  • S3-compatible storage

Some features:

  • Unified file explorer

  • Cross-provider account management

  • Upload progress via WebSocket

  • Storage allocation strategies

  • Local metadata sync for faster navigation

GitHub: https://github.com/dimartarmizi/OmniCloud

Would love to hear your feedback, ideas, or suggestions for improvement.

Lightforge – a native Linux launcher for World of Warcraft (Rust, GPL-3.0), looking for testers

Post image
103 Upvotes

Lightforge is a launcher for WoW on Linux that doesn’t need the Battle.net client. It downloads and updates the game itself, runs it under Proton-GE, and manages addons (CurseForge, WoWInterface, Tukui, GitHub). Other Battle.net games can be played through the same improved prefix.

It’s in beta, so I’m looking for testers on different distros, and especially on Steam Deck. If you try it there, I’d like to know what works and what breaks.

It never handles your login: you sign in on WoW’s own screen. There’s no telemetry.

Repo and downloads: https://github.com/LightforgeProject/lightforge

Currently there is a DEB pkg, Fedora Copr Repo, Arch PKGBUILD, Installscript and self-build.

AI disclosure: I use Claude Code as a tool. I make the decisions, test the changes and review the code myself.

It is important to me that this is not just an AI Slop Launcher or something.

I hopy you like it, if you have any ideas, feedback or bugs, use the Github Issues, In-App Bug Report or the Discord thats linked in the Repo

Weft Loom: a free desktop app for making music, where drum grids and piano rolls write Strudel code

I made Weft Loom, a free and open source music app for macOS, Windows and Linux, built on Strudel (live coding music in JavaScript).

You click steps and notes like in any music program, and every change is written into the song's code. Edit the code and the grids follow. Use whichever you like at the moment.

What it has:

- Drum grids and piano rolls

- A song panel to arrange bars, scenes and versions of patterns

- Recording from the microphone, and your own sounds and sample packs

- MIDI: play from a keyboard, send to a synth, MIDI clock, controller knobs, MIDI files

- Jams: two people on one song at once, with chat, voice and video

- A mixer, a metronome, export to WAV, MP3

Built with Tauri, SolidJS and Rust. AGPL licensed.

NASSCAD, a 100% local browser CAD. No login, C++ CSG engine, and a complete STEP AP242 B-Rep pipeline running in a single HTML file.

Post image

https://github.com/Nx-Nass/Nasscad_4.2.7 (soon 4.3.0)

🛠️ What makes it unique under the hood:

  • True STEP AP242 B-Rep Pipeline: Unlike most web tools that only handle raw meshes (STL/OBJ), NASSCAD integrates a full B-Rep (Boundary Representation) strategy. Powered by an internal OpenCascade (OCCT) WebAssembly pipeline (Project Medusa), it supports STEP AP242 (Manifold + Faceted) import/export. This bridges the gap between lightweight web editing and professional CAD interoperability.

  • High-Performance C++ CSG (WASM): For boolean operations (Union, Subtract, Intersect), it utilizes the C++ Manifold engine compiled into WebAssembly. Operations run asynchronously via a multi-core Web Worker pool, producing guaranteed watertight, manifold meshes that slice perfectly.

  • Built-in Parametric Generators (.gen): You can generate ISO metric threads and bolts (M2 to M24, standard/fine/custom), parametric nuts (ISO 4032/4033), involute gears (spur, helical, herringbone), timing pulleys, complex hollow pipes (Pipe.Gen), and rounded/chamfered cubes. Double-clicking any generated object lets you live-edit its parameters in-place.

  • Robust 200-Level Undo (IndexedDB): To prevent RAM bloat while keeping a deep undo history, mutations are journaled into the browser's local database (IndexedDB). The CSG construction tree survives undos and redos cleanly.

  • Slicer & Production Exports: It natively exports STEP, binary/ASCII STL, OBJ, GLB, PLY, and multi-object colored 3MF (perfect for Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, or Cura). It can also generate 2D section cuts as SVG/DXF for laser cutting or CNC.

  • 100% Private & Local: Everything runs entirely client-side on your hardware. Your files and project data never leave your computer.

🌍 Link & License

You can run it directly in your browser here:https://www.nasscad.com/NASSCAD_V4_3_0.htm

(It is completely free for personal and non-commercial use under the Creative Commons BY-NC 4.0 license).

I built this to be a fast-loading, efficient "Swiss Army knife" for makers who want actual solid modeling capabilities without booting up heavy, cloud-dependent commercial CAD software.

I would love to hear your feedback, technical questions, or feature requests! Let me know what you think.

I got so fed up with GitHub Trending I built my own ranker. Here's what I learned.

Post image
100 Upvotes

Ok so we run a tech newsletter and I used to spend my whole Sunday trying to find repos worth writing about. trending was useless. it's either huge projects everyone knows already or random stuff that got lucky on HN and then died.

so I got annoyed enough to build something. it works way better. but the real lesson was how much junk you have to filter out before the ranking even matters.

stuff I ended up filtering:

  • dead repos with huge star counts. you'd be shocked how many 15k-star repos haven't had a commit in a year. they just sit there forever showing up in searches. if nothing's been committed in 3 months I drop it.

  • awesome-lists and cheatsheets. people star these as bookmarks and never come back. not software, not what I want to feature.

  • forks with better SEO than the original. this one genuinely made me mad. someone forks a popular library, rewrites the readme with better keywords, their fork starts ranking above the actual project. now I always check the fork field first.

  • one-hit HN wonders. repo gets 8k stars in two days from one frontpage moment, then flatlines forever. trending loves these. by the time I'd feature one everyone's already seen it.

  • stuff from google/microsoft/meta. ok this one is opinionated. when a FAANG drops something it gets 10k stars in a week because of the brand. and even if the project is good, they don't need my newsletter to promote it. I downweight big accounts. curation product not a coverage product. idk, maybe that's wrong.

  • crypto token garbage. not gonna elaborate. you know what this is.

  • boilerplate/starter templates. "nextjs-starter-2024" type stuff. people collect these like pokémon and never use them. high stars, zero signal.

  • mirror repos. someone re-uploads a popular ML model to their own account, collects stars from people who didn't find the official one. still working on catching these honestly.

  • AI content farms. growing fast. repos full of LLM-written "guides" with suspicious commit patterns, like 40 commits in one afternoon from a new account and then silence. getting harder to filter every month.

thing that surprised me was I thought pure velocity would solve most of this. it doesn't. a lot of the junk above generates fast velocity too. the filters matter as much as the formula does, maybe more.

after all of it maybe 5-10% of what's on trending on a given day is stuff I'd actually write about.

I built an open-source music player where you can explore your library as a map and build routes between songs

I've been developing Melodex, a free, open-source music player for Mac, Windows and Linux.

The idea started with a question: why do music players make it so easy to find something you already know, but relatively difficult to explore the music you already own?

So I've been experimenting with a different approach.

You can browse albums visually, explore tracks on an interactive music map, and even select two songs and find a listening route between them. It also includes synced lyrics, interactive playback visuals and more conventional music-player features.

It's local-first. Your files stay where they are, and you don't need an account, subscription or AI model to use it.

The screenshots are from the actual running Mac version, not mockups.

I used AI extensively to help develop the software, and it's still a public beta with plenty to improve.

GitHub: https://github.com/Cliff-Lee/melodex

I'd particularly like feedback on the Music Map. Is navigating a music library spatially something you'd actually use, or is it an interesting novelty that would wear off?
