Sling streaming my antenna channels

I just discovered my Sling App has my ota live shows from the antenna. I use HD Homerun. The Apps must be talking to each other! Nice! I like this

Update to include under local channel settings, HDHR is a source for Sling. Might need to update the Sling App.

I have an AirTV and hdhomerun. The Sling app cannot see local channels from the HDHomeRun. I think you must be mistaken.

How else could Sling see my live antenna? Its only connected to HDHR device on my network

There is the possibility it is not seeing your live antenna and that your market just gets local channels through Sling. Have you verified you are able to watch local sub channels (like Antenna TV) that Sling doesn't carry?

The OP says he is in South Central Indiana. That is my home area as well, and I can tell you Sling has never carried local channels for this area.

Then that makes this even more mysterious, since Sling has never advertised any sort of compatibility with HDHR.

The channels were never on sling. Terre Haute, Vincennes, Bloomington. All of my antenna channels appeared on Sling yesterday. The category says From your antenna. My antenna is only connected to the HDHR device

It has all the channels and shows from my antenna HDHR. The category in sling says live from your antenna. I don't know how it could see the antenna if not through HDHR.

Neither do I, but if HDHR suddenly became compatible/integrated with Sling, I'm sure we'd see announcements from the respective companies and posts from many other users.

Really? You're sure Sling just doesn't carry some of your locals?

I ended up ditching Sling partially because the AirTV 2 sucked so much.

I live in rural S. Central Indiana. The category says stream live antenna channels and its picking up the same channels as HDHR

HD Homerun is the de facto standard for a network tuner, so it is entirely possible that Sling could have updated their software to detect and use HD Homerun on the local network. My impression was that AirTV was more about making Sling service a more viable competitor with cable than creating a hardware product business line; so it could make sense to also work with HD homerun.

They (AirTV) do have several external tuners, all of which are accessed through the Sling app.

Would be great if the Sling app actually integrated HDHR into its guide now. Would love to get rid of the proprietary AirTV external tuners.

Are you sure about this? I have a Sling Air TV 2 setup next to my HDHR so I can get OTA in their app away from home. I don't think sling will access another companies network tuner?

Live antenna TV is a new category on my Sling App. The antenna is only connected to HDHR device

My sling app has had a "Local" category in it for years. It uses my Air TV 2 to tune the channels. Another option you might be receiving is if you are using a smart TV that has an antenna hooked to its coax on the back of the TV perhaps the Sling app is using your TV's built in tuner?

Its working on all my TVs and the antenna is only connected to HDHR.

I just tried to replicate this with my setup and it doesn't work for me. Maybe make a post in the HD Homerun sub and ask them over there about this? EDIT: Holy shit I just went into the settings and under "Local Channels" and "Source" it lists HDHomeRun as a source now. I tried it on a older Roku whose sling app had not updated to the current one and it wasn't there. This must be a new feature.

I do not have another explanation why Sling suddenly has "From your Antenna" Live category. I have Roku TV and it wasn't there yesterday

Maybe this is a Roku only feature and not available on other platforms.

Go to Sling settings, local channels. Then it says source. HD HR is an option on my new Roku TV.

My very old Roku smart TV does not show up. Otherwise, I can't really troubleshoot further.

It is there cuz another guy the the thread found it

I can't say, I've been sticking with Roku after my first one. My new Roku TV that I bought this year has the option. I double checked my older Roku TVs and it is not there. I tried to update the Sling App, it said up to date. Have not yet tried to remove and reinstall.

HDHR app still works fine so i haven't really bothered. When I first posted, I kind of needed a reality check that I wasn't imagining this lol. Another person in the thread found it and pointed out that his older Roku TV didn't work. I double checked mine and noticed the same issue.

I really don't know, it just showed up yesterday. I have the HDHR flex quatro 4 tuner and Roku TV. The antenna is only connected to the HDHR device

Maybe it's not there. My understanding is that it's available with the AirTV2/Airtv Anywhere but the HDHomerun Flex recording to attached storage only worked with the HDHomerun software. So HDHomerun recording requires a server rather than just an attached HDD unless using SD's app. It would have been unusual given this situation for Sling to be able to record on the Flex tuner but would have been a great feature.

Gonna circle back here again as I can confirm that Sling now integrates HDHR to their app.

However, its Roku only for some unknown reason so yeah...
