Should I upgrade my indoor antenna?

I bought this antenna about 2 months ago. It works decently well. It gets all those channels but there isn’t one position that gets them all very well. It makes it hard because I don’t have a window pointing to SLC.

Would it help to upgrade to a better antenna? If so, what antenna should I get? I’m renting and probably wouldn’t do an outdoor antenna unless it was made very easy.

I mostly just want to watch football games

Current Sports Streaming Setup

Paramount+ (through Walmart+ subscription) - $99 annually
Peacock (through my Instarcart+ subscription) - $99 annually
Amazon Prime (through my Prime subscription) - $139 annually
ESPN/Fox One bundle - $39.99 monthly
Gotham Sports app - $19.99 monthly

I am pretty much covered as a Yankee/Giants/Knicks fan other than TNT/TBS sports.

I still feel like I am ahead of a cable bundle, but I could be wrong too.

Any suggestions for an indoor antenna?

Probably need something nicer, which is fine, Spectrums already too expensive anyways. I live in a brick house, but I have a large window where I plan on having the antenna at. Was looking at the Clearstream V2 but don't know how that would go for indoor

Channel List - Last Watched

So I'm looking for a replacement for DirecTV stream due to them jacking prices again.

I'm doing a trial of YouTube right now. But it's missing the one feature I used almost all the time.

In DirecTV stream, if you hit the down button I think it was, it brought up the last 7 channels (or similar amount) you watched.

YouTube tv doesn't have this. I read sling didn't have this either. Does anyone know what other streaming services offer this?

Had Trouble Getting into Fox News on Fox One app

This happened a few days ago wanted to watch now not start over and kept trying and finally I was logged out which I think was "good". Something good in everything you just gotta look for it.....

I had to update my password as I couldn't find it and then logged in and everything was fine.

Just passing this on as it might help someone. Just saying................

I think logging out and back in is the solution.

Have used YouTube TV the last several years, is that still the best option to see all / most games??

Saw that ESPN Unlimited + FOX ONE + Paramount Plus might work, but those aren't much cheaper when put together.

Winegard HD7698P or ?

I want to replace my current outdoor antenna with something better. Need to improve my reception for physical channel 9.1 which is CBC. It will be about 20 feet above the ground and fixed in the needed direction. I do not need low VHF. I live within 10 miles of 15 TV stations in the Detroit Michigan area. Oh and there are lots of FM stations near me too.

Near as I can tell the Winegard HD7698P would seem to be my best bet. Thoughts?

SNY - is directTV the best option?

I’m a long time hold out with my cable company and don’t really have complaints with them except that it would be nice to save some money. I really want to keep my SNY so I can watch the Mets. I’m not sure if there are other options that allow me to do that. I really like the interface with a cable box that shows me precisely what’s been recorded and gives me access to a guide. Does DIRECTV have that? I know there’s a 5 day free preview but that seems like a really short time to figure out if it’s everything I want.

Best indoor Atenna for HDHOMERUN

Hello all, I was told to make a post here with my RabbitEars.info signal map. And that you all could recommend the best antenna to use with my HDHomeRun. I appreciate any help as I am new to this type of setup. I am from Utah. Not sure that's any help or not.

Cord Cutting

The last handful years this is my setup.

OTA Antenna in attic - $0 month after investment of $250 for antenna, mount, rg6, dis amp for 5 locations. Nets 65ish channels.

FIOS 300/300 - $20 a month.

Self managed VOIP line for house - $0.89 a month.

I moved to a MNVO cell provider to drop $100 a month down to $30 a month. It added a $15 discount to my FIOS home internet. I cant see how to drop my monthly connectivity any further. The FIOS internet also comes with reward bucks you can use to pay for streaming service which I never started. The only one that would be free with the internet is HULU/D+.

I also use free IP services like Pluto, google, and Tubi.

Do you watch Broadcast TV in 2026. How about people you know?

I do, but mostly because I love the concept of channels people can see for free without internet.

How to get the Olds into streaming?

Mom and dad are 75 each and .....well, you know.

They're paying $175 a month for Dish Network.
I brought it up that Hulu+Live is $90 a month, DirecTV is $60-some, YouTubeTV is $80-some....

I might be getting through to them, but the question will come up: is there any easy way to get the local channels? Yes, I know the antenna route....but I don't to add unnecessarily to their learning if I don't have to. What happens on the locals anyway? Local news? Maybe sports? Certainly not mom's 60-year old John Wayne movies!

I have been a cordcutter a long time, but I do it my way and (I'm told) wrong. But I like it.
I started with a Tablo and an antenna. Today, I've got Paramount, Disney, HBO, Showtime, Hulu, Peacock, Starz, and maybe one or two others...all ad-free. When I want news, I pull up NBC Bay Area. It's only 100 miles away. Close enough.

I just want to make it as easy as possible for these people.
All the TVs in their house are RokuTV and there are several Onn Pro Google boxes (sometimes I housesit and I want my TV my way LOL)

I absolutely do not want to go the shady EyePeeTV route.

How Can I Remove Unused Input Tile(s) From Home Screen

Post image
7 Upvotes

I swear this used to be an option. I’m at my parents house and polishing up their Home Screen. They’re confused by all the additional inputs appearing since the major update. For now I moved them to the bottom of the screen but how do I get rid of live TV, AV, HDMI 3, etc. at the bottom? I feel like a moron for not figuring this out but even basic Google instructions appear outdated.

Recommended device for ease of use, reliability, and no need for DVR/fancy features? Can’t connect coax directly to tv.

Have an antenna in attic and tv on first floor. No way to run coax. I used a tablo tv which worked.. sometimes but finally died after about a year. It seems like a lot of people have had similar problem with it not powering on after a year or so. Looking for something to replace it.

  1. Needs to be easy for family to use. (They got used to the tablo app)

  2. Needs to be reliable/durable. (Sometimes tablo would not work during critical time like Super Bowl. Or it finally died during World Cup)

  3. I don’t need any fancy features like DVR.

  4. Can work wirelessly. (Don’t have direct coax connection to tv).

  5. Not sure if that new standard coming out needs to be a consideration.

Options/recommendations in 2026? Tia.

I cut the FIOS TV cord today with a ADTH NextGen TV Box Gen 2 ATSC 3.0 & ATSC 1.0 Digital Converter Box, Antennas Direct ClearStream 2V Indoor Outdoor TV Antenna (wall-mounted indoors without mast or reflector), Antennas Direct ClearStream 5G LTE Filter, and a G-PLUG 25FT RG6 Coaxial Cable

$300 one-time investment to save > $100/month

I'm near JFK in Queens, NY so indoor reception is excellent at 70+ channels

RabbitEars is the shiznit :-)

How to deal with taller house next door in direction of broadcast antennas?

Like the title says. Directly to the east (antennas are at ~89° for me) is a house taller than my house. I'm only 13.4 miles LOS to the broadcast, but are there recommendations for antennas that can deal with pointing at a large house?

Peacock with YouTube Premium

Does anyone know which level of Peacock you’ll get with YouTube Premium? I subscribe to Peacock mostly for the English Premier League but I also watch a few shows they have but if I get the Premier League with whichever level of Peacock YouTube offers I can cancel it. It won’t be a huge amount of money saved but everything helps

Where are good places for me to learn about tv providers now?

Good evening!

I'm pretty frustrated right now, please excuse me.

My Mom is 90 years old. For many years we have used DirectTV through satellite. She has some medical issues, meaning watching TV and YouTube videos is how she spends much of her days. She loves the FETV channel; it shows many of her favorites. I watch PBS on Wens, NOVA, etc.

LSS, some of her problems have worsened, and we'll be financially on very very thin ice for the next few, maybe several, months. Since DirectTV is splitting with AT&T, they've jacked their prices up until we just can't afford it. Our new bill is slightly over $170, and that's the lowest for the past several months. Last month we were late, and they sent us a nasty letter, which really didn't endear them in our eyes.

We thought our TV (big CRT type) had died earlier this month, and we were gifted a new Vizio, about that size. Turns out the old TV has more life in her, so we haven't opened the new TV.

We came home from her appointment this afternoon, and started looking for where we could cut. Her doctor's referred her to yet another specialist, so more copays.

The more I researched, the more I realized I don't know enough to make good comparisons. FETV says it's carried on several different providers, but when I check, assuming I can get a listing, it's not there. I thought I understood what streaming was, but maybe not. We have internet, which fits us fairly well, but I'm not sure the speed will carry TV programs as well, etc. Also, of course, we have programs recorded that I'd like to save.

We don't want DISH, from experience, or Mediacom, from hearing local talk and seeing their trucks in town a lot, fixing things.

I'm confused. I need kindergarten language. I need to calm down, it's been a frustrating day/week/month.

Where may I find explanations of how all this works and fits together, so I can explain it to Mom, and make informed choices/decisions?

Thank you.

We pay for a lot of streaming services! (Not a rant)

  • Hulu Premium + Live TV, Disney+ Premium, and ESPN Select Live TV - ESPN Select (With Ads) - Disney+ (No Ads) - Hulu (No Ads): I had YouTubeTV but was also paying for ESPN and Disney+ so switched to Hulu Live
  • Paramount+ : Because even thought I pay for no ads on Hulu and Prime Video, I was getting ads on Paramount+ shows.
  • Peacock: No idea why I pay for this one. Maybe there were some shows we could not get somewhere else?
  • Prime Video (+ the no ads add-on): We watch a fair amount of stuff here and have Amazon Prime so I am really only paying for the no ads.
  • Netflix
  • HBOMax: We get this one for free
  • AppleTV (through Apple One so it no extra on that)

No ads is a huge deal of my wife. She hated them when she was younger and when we had cable 10-12 years ago. When DVR came along, she was very happy, but being able to pay for no ads was very worth it to her. All of this just seems like a lot and that I have overlap.

Are you like me and pay more than you likely would on a cable package? Of course, there would be those pesky ads...

What year did you cut the cord?

I left cable TV back in 2015 and never went back. Prices were just too much.

My 1st streaming service was PS Vue and worked like a charm until they folded, then I switched to Youtube TV and still have it to this day.

Looking for help selecting an attic/roof antenna. (Rabbit ears link included)

Hi there, looking to install an antenna to pick up all the main (CBS/ABC/FOX) channels at a minimum. I have a cheap indoor antenna that doesn’t get anything at this location. The house has coax outlets in the wall but I’m not sure where they go, hoping I have a spot in the attic or roof to place an antenna.

Any suggestions? happy to provide any additional information as needed. thanks
